    Shields vs Marshall eclipses Taylor vs Serrano, not to rub it in on some gents but there is no doubt who the GWOAT is and it ain't Taylor.

    What's the logic here? If it didn't pass Taylor vs Serrano then would you say Taylor is the gwoat? This feels like such a minor point that really shouldn't matter when talking about greatness.

    I just watched Shields vs Marshall again.

    I was insisting that Shields would win by wide unanimous decision. But as far as I've seen, Marshall gave Shields a good beating. She actually bullied Shields.

    It could have been a draw.

    You need your eyes testing. Marshall won 4 rounds max. Shields completely schooled her.

    I didn't see any schooling. Marshall was constantly backing her off to the ropes and brutalizing her. No dominant victory.

    She missed alot of those shots too. Shields had great head movement along the ropes.

    I actually feel like Shields/Marshall and Taylor/Serrano are kind of equal when it comes to match quality, even if the former wasn't as close as the latter.

    Not even close. Taylor Serrano was more competitive and more entertaining, even though both are towards the end of their career.

    Taylor’s next fight after next week will be at Croke Park in Ireland in front of 70,000.

    That would have been the best decision, in a fight like that it’s no losers.

    Let's send this one down to the lab for some rigorous scientific analysis

    I'm not arguing for one or the other

    I'm just providing some scientific data

    Serrano is 44-2-1 (30 KOs) and a seven-weight world champion and she moved up through the divisions

    Number of registered female pros in the divisions she won world titles in

    Super-flyweight = 150
    Bantamweight 176
    Super-bantamweight = 173
    Featherweight = 177
    Super-featherweight = 190
    Lightweight = 149
    Super-lightweight = 85

    Shields is 13-0 (2 KOs) and a three-weight world champion who moved down not up through the divisions

    This content is protected

    Number of registered female pros in the divisions she won world titles in

    Super-middleweight = 31
    Middleweight = 21
    Super-welterweight = 61

    Taylor is 21-0 (6 KOs) and a two-weight world champion and she moved up not down

    This content is protected

    Number of registered female pros in the divisions she won world titles in

    Lightweight = 149
    Super-lightweight = 85

    Shields more decorated as a pro but there wasn't even a combined 100 registered pros in the three divisions she's won world titles in until very recently

    Now if you want to make the argument Taylor has a couple or razor-close or controversial wins on her ledger then just make sure you keep that same energy when it comes to your men's P4P rankings and in particular the ranking of your favourites

    To become the #1 at MW all you have to do is be better than 20 other women
    The #3 ranked MW is 9-8-3

    To become the #1 at SMW all you have to do is be better than 30 other women

    The #6 ranked SMW is 3-4-1

    To become the #1 at LMW all you have to do is be better than 60 other women

    The #6 ranked LMW is 12-6-0

    The lower down in weight you go the much deeper the talent pool and even then it's literally night and day in terms of depth and quality between the men and women's game. I'm sure it will improve in time with the later but as of now there's just no comparison

    Are ppl still drunk, “easy work for Shields” and “Shields schooled Marshall”, WTF are you guys on??!

    Shields won but it was no schooling and it was definitely not easy, it was a close fight with both ladies fighting as hard as they could. I’m no fan of woman’s boxing but this fight was impressive!
