So I have recently started training relatively hard by my poor standards and incorporating a fair bit of running, hill sprints e.t.c. On my right leg, i've developed a lump the size of a large marble. It is placed to the right of my shin bone and disappears almost completely as I relax. As soon as I do some leg work the f@@ker pops back out again. I asked around at the gym today, the helpful advice was it's definetly a blood-clot and another suggested I twat it with a hardback book until it disappears! Does anyone have any knowledge or experience of this? I know I could go to the doctor but it is completely painless. Cheers.
Aw it's nothing....just pop it with an ice pic or a rusty nail. Joking of course. I would probably see a doctor anyway, since you don't know what it is. And the internet is just about the worst possible place to ask for medical advice. Even though it's painless, i'd feel a little paranoid that one day you'd put a lot of pressure on it and POP!!! now it's the size of an orange. Ha ha, probably not. But i'd still seek a medical professional's advice.
Cheers for the reply! Hill sprints in the morning so if it explodes I'll visit the doc (after posting a pic here). I will probably pay them a visit anyway, its freaky looking and my nephews keep pressing it.
I've got the same thing...it pops out every time I flex my anterior tibialis (the muscle in front of your shin bone). I have no idea what it is. There's no pain, there's no discomfort whatsoever so I don't bother with it. If I were to guess, it's probably just a cavity or pocket and gets filled with interstitial fluid, but who knows for sure.
couple of Q's vibit.. Have you had it for long, has it got bigger over time and does yours disappear immediately after you stop exerting pressure? Mine can take a few hours to dissipate. Like you, I tend to ignore it but still good to know whats going on. Good to hear from a fellow sufferer!
