Chaiporn is determined, you have got to give him that.

    Round 11

Wake is dancing around, content to pot shot with single quick right jabs during periods of separation and left uppercuts beneath the elbows when Chaiporn is near catching up to him. Chaiporn is throwing lead rights up top. Wake is standing at mid-range, feet planted, working the right jab while leaning back a bit, long torso stretched out diagonally up and outward. HARD right hooks on the hip by Wake. Chaiporn is HURT by a left hand! Chaiporn is walking along the ropes as Wake puts together vicious combinations, stalking, beginning with a few lulling right jabs in triplicate and then swinging in full-force with a left uppercut. Chaiporn manages to weather it, and even lands a few desperate overhand rights when backed into a corner, fighting his way free at the bell.

    10-9 Wake

    110-99 Wake

    Round 12

Chaiporn is taking his lumps now, performing a perfunctory loser's-lap as he doesn't seem to have the passion for the hunt anymore. He is walking forward, blocking where possible, knowing that roughly half of Wake's shots are waiting to light him up but also knowing that Wake seems content to just coast until the final bell doing the bare minimum. That changes in the last half minute. Wake has decided he does want the KO. Right hooks on the body and big left hands!!! Chaiporn down but holds steady and is saved by the bell.

    10-8 Wake

    120-107 Wake

    Official cards:

    Patrick Morley 119-108
    Manfred Kuechler 118-109
    David Hudson 119-108

UD for Shingo Wake - or, "Whack-ay Sheen-Goa!" as he's announced.

The Jackal is a good deal more skilled than Wake, and I'd likely pick him by stoppage if he were to give his new mandatory a shot - but at the same time, Wake does possess a few attributes that Frampton could find troubling. (namely, a 3" height advantage...plus, Frampton hasn't logged all that much ring time with southpaws even bordering on world class. Really just Cazares who didn't last two rounds and Molitor who lasted six...and Wake is younger, taller, more in his prime, and more confident than were either of them...)

It was a fun one - but a tad lonely tbh. :blood

Robney, you alright out there? You fall in a ditch?

No shame in Wake not stopping Chaiporn/Tawatchai. He only has one stoppage loss and clearly is no easy out.

Plus, he isn't exactly a monstrous puncher (Wake, that is) even though his entire Oriental & Pacific reign until now has consisted of stoppages...half a dozen in a row...

That one I must confess to having not had any involvement with.

I've never actually seen the version that most people have, actually, come to mention it. My copy is an early cut that preceded the distributed version, and I had to agree not to ever loan it to anybody. :conf

It's amazing to think that Wake gets to spar with Iwasa pretty regularly, the two are best mates.

I think Wake poses questions for everyone in the division...very tricky style and, as far as I'm aware, he's never been down...
