Pretty major class difference here. Strange he even allowed Lara to bank a few early and gave the impression that the work rate might be bothering him.

Lara is done. Ioka's body worked paid off, and he wasted way too much stamina in the first 4 rounds.

    Round 10

Ioka with uppercuts on the body and straight rights on the face, landing consistently. Huge combinations, doubling up hooks downstairs and then catching Lara with a 2-1-2 when the guard lowers. Ioka landing three- and four-pieces at will, even mixing uppercuts into his combos. Lara feebly returning fire but not getting Ioka's respect, or finding him very successfully. Lara down as the clock winds down, and saved by the bell.

    10-8 Ioka

    98-91 Ioka

Lara quit. He waited till the 9 count and pretended like he was ok and jumped up. I dont blame him though, he literally went all out in the first 4 rounds, and Ioka destroyed his body. Kid had nothing left. Ioka's power was not impressive at all, he literally hit Lara with the kitchen sink over and over again.

    Round 11

Ioka keeps landing combinations flush, over and over. Lara down. Over.

    TKO11!

Well, yeah, nobody ever claimed he carried up monster power to flyweight. He came in with a record of 5-1 (2) at the weight. Still an impressive performance. Showed a little of everything and dominated, outside the couple of early rounds he took off and let himself be significantly outworked.

Either Lara is just super durable, or Ioka is featherfisted. It should not have taken that long to get him out of there. He was landing massive left hooks to the head and body, and straight rights, even the announcers literally said "wtf how is he still up" in Japanese , like 5 times.

Ioka doesnt seem to have the same power he had at light fly but still it seems he won it in style. Man how great it would be if a fight between Ioka and Estrada happens in the near future, would it be even better if it happened and the winner would face the winner of Gonzalez-Cuadras.That would be a dream scenario, long shot but hey who knows.

Anyway thanks for the RBR IB.

    Great stuff as usual.

I think Ioka has average pop at fly. Comparable to say, Billie Joe Saunders @ MW. Definitely not a puncher but wouldn't go as far as to say feather-fisted.

...and I'm thinking Lara is just a machine, considering the # of punches he threw and kept trucking. Not very skillful and was in with a world class operator way outta his league, but the kid has stamina heart and chin for sure.

I'm a big Ioka fan, but I just wasn't impressed by that performance. Lara is a machine, has some crazy ass stamina and heart, but he's a bum in terms of game planning. He blew his wad in the first 4 rounds, and his power was not impressive at all, he threw a lot of arm punches. I knew a stoppage was imminent, but I was thinking rounds 7-8. I'd love to see compubox because Lara threw A LOT of punches, while Ioka destroyed his body. If Lara was more economical with his punches he actually could have made it interesting, but I'm guessing that comes down to inexperience and low boxing iq.

So the glass cannon with a terrible gas tank comes to Japan and wins a world title on the same card that another visitor from the Americas, with an iron chin and super high endurance, comes and loses. :yep

Of course, defeating Kazuto Ioka and defeating Shingo Wake are hardly equal tasks, so no surprise at the outcomes.
