This hard-luck 33 year old Mongolian flyweight has had an awful 2010 boxing in Great Britain. It started well enough, with a win in March that marked his 9th straight over a five year period after having begun his career at 7-3-1 (and having recently won the British Flyweight Championship at the end of last year). The streak was broken when he thoroughly outfought touted unbeaten prospect Ashley Sexton in May but had to settle for a very controversial draw. It's just about universally regarded as not only a robbery but one of the worst of the year. At least he kept his belt that time... Tonight he went into his second title defense against another unbeaten Brit in Paul Edwards. They never even got a chance to compete, as a clash of heads in the very first minute resulted in a nasty cut on Bayaar that left him unable to continue. So what was the ruling? Edwards TKO1 Bayaar. :blood That's right. Under the current rules of British boxing, if a foul like a headbutt or elbow produces a cut and the cut fighter is unable to continue from it - unlike anywhere else in the civilized world, that is a TKO. Anywhere else in the civilized world, of course - that would be a No Contest (or would go to the scorecards after a certain number of rounds completed). It seems this is a very old oversight in the rules of boxing in the UK that has recently been addressed and corrected...but for whatever reason instead of being amended immediately when they reviewed it, the rule change doesn't take effect until January 1st, 2011. atsch That's about seventeen days too late for Bayaar, who has not only lost his belt and the leveraging power it afforded him on the British domestic scene but now has a bull**** stoppage loss on his record which belies what a rugged and durable fighter he is. It's sad, poor sod is getting the John Simpson treatment but on a whole new level. Btw Edwards is a clown for celebrating that. If it was a punch fair dues but a head clash...**** off! Jumping around like that looses my respect.
Aww **** man, I watched shinny school sexton for most of that fight til he got cut from a Headbutt. Now this bull****!!! Ward woulda been the best british champ ever :rofl
