Round 12

Yamanaka is backing away, pawing jabs. Kaikanha is coming on strong with a resurgence of his powerful lead rights from the stalking crouch. Yamanaka is jumping in and holding. Kaikanha is warned for rabbit punches. Lead rights by Kaikanha. Yamanaka lands a counter 1-2 and Kaikanha wobbles. Yamanaka jumps in for the finish but Kaikanha is clearer headed than he thought, having wobbled mostly due to fatigue, but still dangerous. They exchange punches in the middle of the ring and Yamanaka ties up and gives Kaikanha a pat on the back and grin as the bell sounds.

    10-9 Kaikanha

    115-109 Yamanaka

Yamanaka has stopped fourteen of his last sixteen opponents, barring Kaikanha and Darchinyan.

Eh, not quite enough action. Yamanaka went long stretches without engaging. If he met Suriyan head-on it could have been.

Good fight though, lots of twists and turns.

Sorry didn't realise there was an RBR on here >_< ...been one of those days with crashes and various issues making everything difficult.

Despite the loss Suriyan can hold his head up high, he gave Yamanaka a nightmare at times. Funny that Suriyan is now 0-4-1 away from Thailand though this is perhaps his only "clean" loss.

Yamanaka said he wants a unification bout though I'm not sure where he goes for it, rumour is the winner of the IBF title fight this weekend though I can't see either Caballero or Hall gambling their belt that quickly

    :good

I was really surprised by Kaikanha's performance. I really thought Yamanaka would dominate.

I also couldn't believe how Kaikanha's punches seemed to affect Yamanaka more than Yamanaka's affected him. I considered Yamanaka the stronger puncher heading in, based on his reputation and seeing Kaikanha against Pong, Rojas and Sato.

Reminder: there won't be any video of Aoh vs. Salgado forthcoming, in case anybody is waiting on it.

Neither of the countries in which the card was televised (NTV in Japan & Channel 7 in Thailand) bothered to include the co-feature in their coverage. Each showed the main event only in a single-hour program.

From what I've read (ringside accounts reporting on the scene in Tokyo) it was clear and deservedly wide for Aoh, who almost kayoed Salgado in the final minutes.

It's a shame a lot of the top Japanese fighters have no incentive to fight in the US

Is the problem that they make enough domestically that they’d only make comparable money in the US as main eventers, and they can’t get main events because they’re relatively unknown here in the States?

:yep I figured you weren't watching when you said that (or you were being facetious) and were just skimming the RBR - as despite scoring knockdowns in three consecutive rounds Yamanaka was having a rough night as of then and it actually never seemed like he was about to put Kaikanha away for good, even when he caught him super flush and even when Kaikanha was at his most fatigued-looking.

I was watching Ghost Hunters on OnDemand at 7 in the morning I hadn't gone to sleep yet, and I was just checking on my Froch thread before I went to sleep, and yes I was being facetious, but it always a possibility with Yamanaka.:hey
