Hmmm in some respects. His submmision game is par excellent. He doesnt have much in the way of standup but doesnt need too. Is he in the K1 now as i doubt well ever see him in the UFC..
UFC rules might actually suit his groundgame as Japanese MMA seems to prefer striking and stands up fighters far quciker than in the states.
I dont see how. In terms of Jujitsu and ground control the rules are the same. They only make a diffrence where striking from the mount is concerned.
Penn has a much better standup game, as Aoki is literally all ground. On the ground, Aoki's style is similar, but Penn is in actuality a better grappler. Similarities on the ground, but Penn is more versatile, and even better at Aoki's strength.
Guy Guys cmon now ..Im surprised..Aokis ground game (JJ) is nowhere close to BJs JJ.. BJs on Leozinhos level pure JJ. only surpassed by Souza, Roger and Marcelo. Aoki looks impressive because he features the rubber guard but really thats all he has...he is flexible.. but theres alot of holes in his game forget not having great stand up because hes not even close to BJ
