Good point. HBO also seems to have it's eyes pretty much locked in on Danny Jacobs and Matvey Korobov, two guys who will likely live in that 168 division when they completely develop. Korobov is a beast amongst men. Showtime should enjoy it while it lasts and continue to pump out great fights at 168. It's a pretty easy strategy and pretty hard to **** up.
He says that he can, but I'm not sure. On fight night against Tarver a week ago he weighed 184. While he's certainly not a big 175, I wouldn't be certain about the prudence of cutting down to 168.
prior to the second tarver fight i read somewhere he was seriously considering. but on fight night, he came in at 184 so i dont know how likely it would be anymore.
Dawson says he can but we're talking about someone who normally comes in in the 185 lb range after rehydrating. Sides why would he go down? He's pretty much the undisputed king of the 175 lb division. As long as he can handle Tavoris Cloud or Diaconu he has no reason to move down.
but unless something drastic happens in light heavy, chad wont ever become a big name regardless of who he fights. we already know it wont ever be hops.
Understandably so...that SAID, HBO didn't pry him away from Showtime to bounce him around weights. They'll try to crowbar him into a fight with someone like Glen Johnson and/or see if they can get Hopkins to consider a fight at 175 against him. Don't be shocked if HBO digs out a few of the oooold reserves. I'm looking at you Tito and RJJ.
By the by of course I must say thanks for those who used this r-b-r either for discussion or for following the fight or what have you. Sure beats cluttering the hell out of the boards.
well, the first page of the board is filled with the same thread, over and over. i just dont understand why some people are calling it the worst fight of the year.
