SHO doesn't control or pay fighters. They just air the fights.

    According to Espinoza's twitter:

    1) GB pays, not Sho 2) Millions more from foreign, live gate, closed circuit "

    2) Dude, you literally could not be more wrong. Promoter pays, not Sho. "@kramseniram: & who pays fighters on showtime cards? you guys do."

SHO doesn't force any fighters to fight anyone. They aren't paying the purses.

    Purses come directly from GB.

No, but I've heard people say that SHO forces people to fight certain fights in order to increase PPV buys.

People were saying that SHO forced Floyd to fight Canelo, and its not the case.

SUBS AND PPV BUYS HAVE NOTHING IN COMMON.

You can buy a SHOWTIME PPV without being subscribed to SHO.

Ask him why he refuses to do business with other promoters and why he continues to hurt the sport. And why he doesn't put pressure on gbp to do business with other promoters . Isn't that in his networks best interest? The very network he works for. Also, isn't there a conflict of interest since he was an ex gbp lawyer . And if gbp makes the fights and pays the fighters, what is his job description?

Showtime's Stephen Espinoza is directly responsible for good numbers, he in turn will accept/deny some of the matchmaking that is done by GBP/Al Haymon/whoever.

Floyd - Canelo was more or less pushed by Stephen Espinoza and others at SHO, with the less than spectacular ratings in Floyd-Guerrero.
I fully expect Floyd-Maidana to do equally as "bad" as did Guerrero, lets not forget SHO offered Floyd a multi-fight deal, that probably took a bite out of their budget, so its best Floyds future PPVs do good.

HBO are more choosy than Showtime about what fights they air. For example, I couldn't imagine HBO being interested in a fight like Lara v Trout, and if some reason they thought it was gonna be a barnburner, I doubt either of them would be fighting on the network again.

When talking about PPV that goes for both networks. Need to clarify, because SHO does put up purses for regular cards. Technically they offer a bid for a card to GBP who pays the purse , but its effectively the same thing.

For PPV thats a different ballgame, usually its the promoter who puts up any money for guaranteed purses. TV network gets paid for production + takes cut of buys.
