    Round 5

Perez jabs and moves, and hooks on the turn. Meza claps along after him, and sloppily ambles into a clinch. Nice long hook and right hand combo by Meza, glancing and making Perez bolt. Meza comes forward and gets needled in the face by that jab. Nice uppercut/whipping left combo by Perez. Double jab right hand by Perez. Interesting combos. Meza is open to everything, but is trying to defend as he keeps pushing on. Hook to the face by Perez as Meza dives and nearly lands a headbutt low blow :)lol:). Meza is getting slapped around coming forward. BIG right hand counter by Perez, laser-like and crisp. They clinch and hit, Perez landing better with overhand rights as his left is pinned. Hook-2 by Perez. Meza is on the ropes. Perez lands body jabs and right hands up top.

    50-45 Perez

    Round 6

Meza comes forward but is in more of a shell now, and throwing less. BIG combo by Perez - an upward hook and a chopping right. Meza is getting affected by the right hands more and more now. Meza now flees from a body shot, cleaving to the ropes. Perez follows, using his jab to set up. Meza spins him to the ropes and then flops into him, smothering. The ref takes them back out to the middle. Body jab by Perez. Overhand right by Perez. Stiff double jab to the face by Perez, scoring on that cut eye area. Meza leans in on Perez and flips up some body shots. Perez slides back and lands hard straight counters. Right to the body, and an uppercut by Perez. HARD uppercut to the face and whipping left hook to the hip by Perez. Meza is backed to the ropes by long hooking combos. Meza is riding out the clock, waiting for the bell. LONG ten seconds as Perez keeps teeing off from range.

    60-54 Perez

Meza backing up! Perez walking forward! Perez may stop him here. A minute and a half to go. Meza wearing down 30 seconds to go! Another superb Perez round.

That's it. Meza quits in the corner. The corner pulls him out.

    You know,

Perez looks great offensively, but I'm not so sure about his defense. He looks a hair careless, and never pulls back his head or body after firing. He could be dead meat against a great counter-puncher. (say, oh, Morales.)

Maybe he just wasn't afraid of Meza, but still, technique is technique.

I like Walter a lot, he's a good spoiler and way better than his record - but honestly he'd have a difficult time springing one of his upsets on this Perez kid.

Really, besides Estrada there isn't another Colombian anywhere near as smooth as Darley, besides maybe Joel Julio (who's a very old 26). That wasn't hyperbole, even after only seeing this kid once. Prescott? Miranda? Pitalua? Yonnhy Perez? Sluggers and volume zombies. Not practitioners of neat, pretty boxing.

    Yes. Indeed.

Like IB said too, you know what you're lookin' at, this dude has P4P skills.

He's a bad ass. Can't wait to see that guy again.

IMO, he only almost made a mistake by gettin' too comfortable and he likely learned a lil' somethin' right there.
