La Cobra is still young, and still a decent boxer-puncher. He can rebuild from this.

I'm not sure about his fighting heart, though. The way he froze when Mamadjonov had him hurt with body shots wasn't encouraging...

This is why I rarely pick power punchers in fights.

I was pulling for Santana but I dont even care that Kenny stopped it...you get knocked down 3 times in 2 rounds and looked horrible and amaturish the whole time. Other guy deserved it.

Is Santana a defector or a Cuban American?

Santana isn't just some wild sloppy banger, though. He gained a reputation for scoring lots of sensational knockouts, yes, but they came about through patience and punch selection rather than simply bombing away recklessly.

This was supposed to be two boxer-punchers, not a pure boxer vs. a brawler.

Defected when he was 17 or 18

He was showing signs of fatigue a few rounds earlier. I wonder about his conditioning for this fight. Body shots to a less than solid core hurt a lot more.

He crossed from Cuba to Miami in an inner tube six years ago.

But Sean Penn says they are all happier in Cuba.

Yeah. It isn't like he could possibly have punched himself out, either. He's no busy bee in there. Mamadjonov outworked him every round and wasn't exactly breaking the odometer himself.

Good for Baha, he's a throw back when you look at his opponents.

    Who is crying?
The ref ensures rules are followed and protects the fighter when the fighter doesn't have the ability to protect himself.

Santana was still able to protect himself, beat the count and was up to continue fighting and was talking to the ref. It was a premature stoppage and that is clear to anyone who is objective.

I had Baha winning and I have no doubt he most likely would have won the fight, but I hate refs who take the fight from the fighters for no reason.

Well, Farhood made the point that his opposition is either good (Archie Ray Marquez, former major contender Michael Clark, Darley Perez, and now Angelo Santana) or really bad. (all the rest have losing records)
