Great job by Romero surviving that early onslaught when he appeared to be in dire straits.

Bad call from his corner telling him he's winning the fight.

    Round 9

Romero throws a stiff jab. Avalos tries to locate his own jab but can't reach the lanky and awkward Colombian as he leans back. Avalos is missing tons of jabs from range. Romero is landing his long jabs while backing up and hooking off them now and then. Avalos misses a high double jab and then a sweeping right to the body. Romero shuffles to his left and lines up a pair of beautiful straight right hand leads. Romero is timing the **** out of Avalos and exploiting the reach advantage. Romero dances off the ropes and lures Avalos across the ring. Avalos walks straight into another big right hand lead!! Avalos drapes himself over Romero against the ropes. Big right hand by Avalos, blocked. Horribly wide jabs by Avalos miss as Romero pulls some slick moves on his feet. Uppercut by Romero

    10-9 Romero

    86-84 Avalos

The 9th was Romero's best round by far.

Funny because Farhood and Menefee were just talking about how he seemed completely ****ed on his stool after the 8th.

    Round 10

Wild swinging hooks by Avalos. Romero dances around and lands counter jabs and rights. Avalos is stuffing his dense jab into Romero's face and the Colombian's head snaps all the way back every time, which may be influencing the judges. Romero is landing more shots, though - and arguably better ones despite the appearance of effectiveness in Avalos' stiff head-snapping jabs when he gets close. Romero is moving, countering, and tying up. Good uppercut by Romero thrown while on the run. Avalos bunny-hops after him, arms held up and palms out to catch shots (but failing to do so). Romero circles and pot shots with right hand leads. Avalos catches up and Romero clinches. Slapping right by Romero. Avalos leans into him against the ropes. Body shots by Avalos, and they trade almost to the bell!

    10-9 Romero

    95-94 Avalos
