I was just about to compliment Goossen Tutor for no funny business on their show after the judges got it right in Reyes-Molina. :-(

I'm assuming Molina and Gonzales are the "house" talents? (ie both signed with Goossen)

I don't though, and i had a clear 5 founds to Duran and if I wasn't trying to be nice I"m sure I could find more for Duran than for Gonzales.

I'm not going back through the thread, I commented on every round.

I know everyone here gave Duran at least 2 of the first 3 rounds, Tarver scored them for Gonzalez as did I.

I scored for workrate over pressure. Duran wasn't busy enough. He did land lots of good shots but he'd eat a dozen one twos and uppercuts to do it.

Nah. I explicitly didn't do so in the 7th, where Duran had that one big hit that shook Gonzales in his boots...but landed **** all else in the other 2:55. I scored it to Gonzales, as he was actually jabbing and putting in good work.

By the time Virgil gave his "you need 6, 7, and 8 BIG!" speech it should have been too late for Gonzales to salvage anything but a draw without a knockdown.

Of 1-5, Duran only lost the third. In the first, second, fourth and fifth he landed several good shots per round and gave Gonzales multiple scary moments.

Usually, that's right, (the ESB type of nonsense scoring) but even a couple of other sites think Duran won pretty clearly. But, eh, oh well. :conf

Just my opinion but I think he may have said that because the workrate of Gonzlaez went south in the 5th. I think that my have been the first round I gave Duran.

I don't get what everyone saw. I saw Duran landing 3 or 4 decent punches every round while walking forward eating jabs upstairs and down and walking into 1-2s and uppercuts.

The jab is an effective punch if it keeps the other guy from getting off.

In some (but not all) of the rounds, Duran's jab was landing too - in lower quantity but harder. Most explicitly, there was one moment in the early rounds where Gonzales was leaning back in a very complacent manner thinking he was safe to pot-shot jabs out of a crouch while cruising, and Duran just zoomed in and rattled him badly with a powerful triple jab to the grill.

As for power punches, I think Duran in the rounds he got on my card landed a bit more than 3 or 4.

I had the fight even, and I think I was somewhat generous to Gonzales. Not at all surprised the judges gave it to Gonzales though. Duran landed the better shots, but Gonzales was a lot busier. And it's just the type of fight they always give to the prospect.

Not really fair, but... Really impressed by Reyes, taking the first fight by force.

    Nice card. I love shobox!
