Pffffft. Haney did what he was supposed to tonight. But he didn't wow me or most others here. It was a learning fight, let's leave it at that.

 

Lol I don't know if he schools Tank but he is a very impressive talent.

 

Haney isn't necessarily a power-puncher, but Burgos is still really god damned tough and wouldn't have been easy to stop anyway. I think Devin will probably score more stoppages as time goes on once he grows and sets down more on his punches. He did hit hard enough to shake Burgos on a few occasions, and as long as he keeps forcing guys to reset, he should be fine for a little while anyway.

 

That 97-93 is EXTREMELY generous. Haney maybe lost a round.

 

I don't have to in order to know that dominating Burgos in 2018 means nothing.

I rate Uzcátegui's simultaneous dominant shutout against Maderna far higher. Now, was Burgos a better fighter than Maderna p4p in his pomp? Yes of course. But he's far past his prime now.

Uzcátegui > Haney.

He's only 19 and is skilled he's also fighting good comp as of late. He's still a teenager he has plenty of time to get better. Time is on his side.

 

Alright well in a few years when he's in his early to mid twenties and facing big-boy comp then I'll more gladly suffer people hyping him up as THE TRUTH or THE FUTURE.

For now, no, Burgos in 2018 doesn't qualify as "good comp". This is a time honored tradition of prospects (the real ones and the fake ones) cutting teeth and building their name on the broken corpses of decent names from bygone eras that have overstayed their welcome in the sport. Let's leave it at that.

 

The Burgos that fought Hasegawa and Garcia would get dominated by Haney. Let's be honest. No version of Burgos is competitive.

 

You're right and you must take account that Haney is still a teenager and not a full grown man. So that evens things out.

 

I rate Uzcategui. I thought he'd crush Maderna in 6. I'm even more scared of Beterbiev now.

 

Yeah we can knock Beterbiev for his skill (especially defensively) but that boy can WALLOP.
