Glad to see Johnny Garcia win that split decision. Sure Ugas had more skill, class, and talent, but he didn't hardly use it, and appeared to me as if he didn't bother to train or something. His effort was practically nonexistent, fighting only in spots, whereas Garcia was aggressive and fighting nonstop. Ugas seemed somewhat listless in there. Maybe he needed a loss to give him a wake-up call, or maybe he's just not that good, or just a really really cautious fighter.

    10-9 Magdaleno looking the goods.

1 of my favourite Top Rank prospects.

    10 - 9 Magdaleno

Magdaleno won on clean punching and activity. Beltran pretty much just caught the punches and couldn't really apply any offense of his own.

Magdaleno talks like someone on speed.

    Round 2

Beltran pokes some jabs and lefts to the body while stepping forward on spidery legs. Magdaleno slides back, squats, straightens, and counters. Good combination punching by Magdaleno. All quick and sharp shots. Beltran is able to turn his head away from a few and catch some on his left glove cocked up by his chin, but Magdaleno is still rocking him and landing a great deal to the soft midsection. Chopping combo by Magdaleno. Beltran throws a lazy left and is countered HARD by a 1-2 and staggered back. Could be hurt!! Recovers.

    20-18 Magdaleno

    20 - 18 Magdaleno

One sided round in a one sided fight. This fight is boring. Magdelano can't even get a midget out quickly.

The only thing I disagree with out of all this is the sentiment that it's okay that the wrong guy won. For any reason.

    20-18 all Magdaleno.

Its time for Top Rank in the next 6 months or so to get him on a HBO BAD co-feature against someone like a Luis Cruz...Juan Carlos Burgos or Eloy Perez etc.

    Round 3

Beltran throws in some long shots from a few feet away, and lands a right hook to the chin despite being timed and countered by the squatting Magdaleno. Quadruple right jab by Magdaleno. Beltran is jogging to his right and trying to float in his jab, popping his elbow up triangularly. Magdaleno is out-maneuvering and out-jabbing him, using speed and snap along with his much better footwork. Beltran claps his way into a rough clinch. The ref calls for a break and tells them to fight. Right jab, left cross, right hook, left hand by Magdaleno. Nice combo.

    30-27 Magdaleno
