I'm not saying the wrong guy won. You can have more overall ability and simply not perform your best, and another guy can have less ability and perform at his highest level, and at the end of the day you have a close decision, which is what this was. I personally liked Garcia's nonstop work rate. I did not care for Ugas' paltry output, covering, grabbing, doing almost nothing except here and there. If fans have to watch guys do almost nothing, they are going to start turning the channel because there are a lot of entertainment options these days. When you get paid good money to be on t.v. and are trying to garner a fan base, you show up in top shape and give it your all and try to make sure you win. Ugas to me seemed like a guy going through the motions, barely doing anything. Garcia was giving it everything he had and was the one making the fight and doing almost all the work, firing nonstop body shots and uppercuts and rights, and I have no problem with the judges giving the nod to him. Justifiable decision.

    Round 5

Double right jab by Beltran. Quick combo by Magdaleno. Beltran jogs around and doubles his jab, but gets countered with chopping lefts. Clinch. Right power jab by Magdaleno. Combo to the body by Magdaleno. Beltran keeps trying to grab on. Beltran doubles his jab up top and tries a left hand to the chest. Magdaleno rips him with uppercuts. 1-2 by Beltran falling in. Magdaleno is juking and jiving, hitting Beltran with nice counter combos while moving well on the outside. Right hook and left hand combo. Beltran keeps trying to etch an opening with the double right jab but can't keep Magdaleno held down with it. Beltran takes a low blow and spends some time recovering. Right hook by Magdaleno, doubled to body and head. Beltran jabs and Magdaleno ducks.

    10-9 Magdaleno

    49-46 Magdaleno

    49 - 46 Magdaleno

All that pressure and Magdaleno still doesn't have this dude out and with that class jaw you know he is gonna go down when he fights a real fighter in the division.

Magdaleno is reeling out his right jab and casting big high left hands, falling in. Clinch. Beltran is doing a lot of holding on up close. Overhand left, right hook, left hand by Magdaleno. Beltran was hurt and holding, getting blasted against the ropes. Magdaleno hurries himself, throwing another power combo and getting grabbed again. Magdaleno lands some snappy jabs to the face. Beltran leans in and tries to hold.

This is probably the worst performance of Magdaleno's career. He's looked much better than this. It's probably because he feels the need to stop Beltran. As he should, but he isn't an offensive, KO machine. He should just be him, be slick, be defensive, be quick.
