ShoBox: Freddy Hernandez vs. Mike Anchondo & Luis Franco vs. Wilton Hilario RBR

Round 8

Hilario loads up on a huge overhand right that pulls him off balance and nearly does a faceplant. Franco steps in and hooks him while he's leaned over. Franco is now hopping in and out throwing pot shots. Hilario is posing a lot and charging in without punching. Franco is just timing him and grabbing him. Hilario walks into a jab and then a pair of hooks, so Franco just leaves the left hand hanging out near his face and going back and forth between the two punches, keeping his right hand cocked. Nady gets in Hilario's face and yells at him for kidney punching. ANOTHER headbutt and ironically, Hilario is cut from it on the corner of the eye socket. Hilario tries to run Franco down and gets grabbed and throws some rabbit punches with his arms around Franco's neck. The bell rings and Franco blows a kiss and Hilario blasts it off his lips with a blatantly late hook but somehow escapes disqualification (to likely lose a shutout unanimous decision).

Tarver and Farhood both gave Hilario the same pity round (the 7th). I had it 80-71 and really don't feel there's any wiggle room.

That judge that gave him three needs to not quit their day job...

 

They just said the Super Six will return in November! :shock:

They didn't specify a date, or which fight, or whether it will be counted as a semi-final, but it's something! :happy

 

A shot and fat Rocky Balboa could beat Nagy Aguilera, though. So Milkdud will at least go 1-0 at HW. :yep

 

Speaking of soft, Anchondo looks like his taco to push-up ratio is a bit out of whack.

Hernandez has something in his mouth - is that a giant lollipop? A novelty chopstick? The rung of a small ladder? :blood

 

Round 1

Hernandez is jabbing and strolling casually backward and laterally. Anchondo keeps ducking and trying to hook his way in blind. Lead rights from Anchondo lead to being clinched and/or spun around. Hernandez holds him at bay with the jab brushing against his face, actually leaning forward and down a bit from the outside to land it due to the pronounced height difference. Hernandez starts to work his right hand a bit. They trade hooks but Anchondo is generally missing widely.

Round 2

Hernandez is going to town with the hook, turning it over up top and also swinging it around from underneath to score to the body. Anchondo lands a jab as Hernandez comes in overconfident. A lead right from Hernandez is blocked but sends Anchondo back a few feet. Anchondo seems hurt and Hernandez is bashing him into a corner until grabbed. Anchondo again gets an arm around Hernandez before he can get much offense going. A jab is smooshed into Anchondo's nose.

Round 3

Hernandez is playing keepaway while Anchondo huffs and puffs laboring to cut off the ring and stampede at him. Hernandez shadows with the hook and jab, leaving his left fist out front as a scout in case Anchondo gets near him. HUGE right hand connects as Hernandez dusts off the 1-2. Anchondo shakes it off and keeps plodding forward. Anchondo is trying to land his own 1-2 to the body but is getting killed by the reach, speed, and accuracy of Hernandez. Anchondo ducks down and surfaces too close to punch, and so grabs.

Round 4

Anchondo starts with high energy, leaping in with Roy Jones hooks but obviously lacking the athleticism to pull it off. Hernandez patiently waits for him to fall in and then spins him away from the ropes. Hernandez drops him with an unobstructed right hand (there were a couple of follow-up shots but the right hand knocked his wheels off and succumbing to gravity was just a prolonged reaction). Anchondo gets up and comes back at him and lands a right hand but does so while eating an entire 1-2. Right hand to the body has Anchondo looking vulnerable and Hernandez tees off on him unanswered until Robert Byrd saves him.
