I really like Foster's trainers instructions.

    Even after 2.

Fernandez is to wild with his swing. Foster is timing the counter

Fernandez needs to relax. He’s trying way too hard and it’s costing him

    Round 3

Fernández is starting to get stung by Foster's right hand, which the Houston native is threading inside more confidently now, pushing off the heel of the rear foot to connect and then recede with the low tide, keeping himself mobile & turned partially away, ready to bob & weave in a slick rhythm. Foster is dodging the right hand as Fernández twirls and uncorks it after every half-revolution or so around him by the American. Foster is swaying back from a Fernández right hand lead and peppering in a counter 1-2 on the rebound before moving laterally some more.

    10-9 Foster

    29-28 Fernández

    Round 4

Fernández is getting tagged by jabs and lead rights as Foster cuts wide swaths around him, at least doubling his foot speed. Foster just toying with Fernández, turning him and needling with straight punches with either hand, very sharp & economical, aiming precisely. The foot movement isn't just fast, but controlled. Foster very much the ring general, in full command of the situation, even when Fernández starts to force his way inside and desperately swing at the body, Foster just weathers it and wriggles off the ropes with a grab & release and then resumes shimmying around Fernández popping jabs from just inside his reach and then half-stepping back out to a safe distance.

    10-9 Foster

    38-38

I have to say, even though I've been the leader of the Jonfer hype bandwagon, this is a brilliant game plan by Foster and if he manages to keep this up for six more rounds and spring the upset my hat's off to him.

3-1 Foster. This is going to be a sad way to lose his 0 if Fernandez can’t turn it around

Foster is the ring general, he's controlling everything in that ring. 3-1 Foster. I love Foster's trainer, very good at his job.

Okay, so it wasn't just me thinking Foster has never looked anywhere near this good in his previous televised showings. All the commentators just echoed my thoughts...saying in the past he ranged from looking "so-so" to "fairly decent" but that he's fully dialed-in tonight.

Foster's going to the body great, following his corners advice perfectly.

Farhood has it 40-36 O'Shaquie Foster. (but was also shit-talking Jonfer before the first bell; did a Spaniard bang his wife or something?)
