Round 3

Melendez is winging in a few shots around the sides as Brinson stands in front of him. Brinson wakes up and sticks jabs into Melendez's face while threatening with the big hammer right from above. Melendez is ambushing Brinson after ducking back into a seated position near the ropes, springing up with uppercut combos twisting in toward center and straight-out shoeshines. Brinson is stunned toward the end of the round.

Melendez is dropped! He immediately rises. Melendez is flurrying and clinching. Brinson waits and pounces with big right hands on the hairline and left hooks downstairs. Brinson is smacking Melendez around the ring. Melendez leans in and holds. Brinson shakes him off with uppers. BIG surge by Brinson, putting hard straights together. Melendez is shelling up. Brinson mixes in body hooks. MELENDEZ SPINS HIM INTO THE ROPES!! HUGE SHOT HURTS AND DROPS BRINSON!! He is up but very wobbly. Melendez jumps on him but can't finish. Brinson is defending himself on instinct and adrenaline. The ref looks close to stopping it.

Melendez is throwing fierce uppercuts with both hands. Brinson shuffles away, lining up right hand counters and occasionally leaping in to brace against Melendez with a glove on a hip, turning him and shoveling in left uppercuts as he passes by. Melendez is jabbing over Brinson's head. Brinson ducks and flurries. Melendez keeps moving in. Brinson straightens his knees and clinches. Love taps on the body from Brinson on the inside. Melendez rolls fist over fist as though working a speedbag, then flutters a double jab into Brinson's eyes. They trade jabs as Melendez follows Brinson toward a corner. Counter overhand right by Brinson, ducking away.

Long delay, fixing tape on Brinson's glove. Hard rights to the body by Brinson. Double jab up top, right to the body. Melendez is answering Brinson's combos in kind, mirroring his movements, but with less snap on his shots. Melendez is dancing away, head lolling to either side behind his wavering gloves. Brinson fakes with a jab and catches him pulling straight back with a lunging straight right. Brinson is sticking the jab in with a penetrating step inward past Melendez's lead foot. Melendez is standing there, waiting on Brinson. Right hand counter by Melendez misses.

Melendez is showing no initiative, only reacting as Brinson comes bearing down on him. Brinson is burying the right hand on the six-pack and then ripping it over the top in a rainbow arc. Brinson is putting heavy pressure on Melendez, who is barely even countering. Brinson sticks Melendez with a low jab and keeps working in the right. Pause to check tape on Melendez's glove. Time in. Brinson takes a left hook to the body while circling, then watches for an opening and dives in with a jab between Melendez's elbows. Clinch.

Melendez is slapping out behind Brinson's neck and trying to pull him in close to tie him up. Brinson is jabbing Melendez in the face when they separate. Nice hook-cross combos by Brinson as they circle. Melendez seems lost for ideas, and isn't minding his defense. It's all slaps and clinches as Brinson picks his spots and busts up his mug.

Brinson is putting in combos with both hands, causing Melendez to cower and retreat. Another pause to check tape on Melendez's glove. Time in. Brinson is checking the Melendez jab with turns of his left glove, and leading Melendez along as he scoots back with his left held out at full extension. Brinson is making Melendez lunge for him, then ducking and rolling to his side. Rabbit punch by Melendez. Brinson is in pain. The ref tells Brinson he was asking for it by holding. Another clinch. Melendez lands another rabbit punch. Brinson is sent to a neutral corner and the ref docks Melendez a point. Time in. ANOTHER BLATANT RABBIT PUNCH BY MELENDEZ. He chases Brinson across the ring hooking at him until after the bell. Headbutt! A fight breaks out!!

More fouls by Melendez! Grabbing Brinson by the nape, hitting him behind the head! Brinson is furious with the ref. Brinson is waiting for Melendez with hooks and rights. Jabs to the body by Brinson, skipping away. Melendez clobbers up top with a right and yanks Brinson in, dragging him to a corner and mauling until the ref gets in to split. Very ugly sloppy closer here. They push, nip and tuck at center ring. 1-2-3-2 by Brinson, very crisp combo knocked Melendez back!! Brinson pushes him into a corner.
