Round 4

Luis Franco walks forward with very loose arms, calmly flicking out jabs and hooking off the jab in a whip-cracking motion. Hunter is all defense now: rolling his shoulders, catching shots with his right hand by his jaw, and clinching. Franco keeps flurrying and is mostly getting blocked but finally persistence pays off and he gets through and buzzes Hunter a little. Hunter dips his knees and throws an uppercut to the nuts and the referee laughs and says "Come on man. I'm not kidding!" but doesn't deduct another point. That was the most blatant one yet. Franco comes on strong with fast left hooks to the head and Hunter clinches.

Round 5

Franco throws several unanswered jabs, forcing Hunter to either shell up and retreat or clinch depending on how fast Franco's feet (and hands, in particular) get to him. Franco throws a hard right hand that lands on the clavicle and then shoeshines to the body. Another punch strays below the belt line but the referee scolds the Franco corner for having hiked his trunks up. Hunter lands a good counter right hand. He tries to land a couple of hooks but Franco keeps reaching him first. Franco ducks a Hunter jab and sets up shop leaning against his chest and going to work; Hunter slaps him with a hook to the face. They exchange some abdominal digs until the bell.

Round 6

Franco pumps out several jabs, while Hunter gets out one - with both missing but Franco having the effect of backing Hunter up. They get in close and exchange short punches, with Franco landing better and forcing Hunter to the ropes. Hunter tries to bob and shimmy to make Franco miss and land to the body. They get back to the middle of the ring and Franco remains committed to the inside attack, using Hunter's forehead as a pillow and getting comfortable before flashing his hands. Big headshots with the left hand are zinging Hunter, who breaks up his running counter-punching attempts with clinches.

Round 7

They come together with some awkward grappling, and Hunter throws some hard punches to the hips and groin area unseen by the ref. Franco gets Hunter on the ropes with some quick combination punching but is given the slip. Hunter tries to duck up and down as Franco advances while firing, and springs from his ducking position into clinches whenever Franco catches up to him. Franco waits for the split and goes back to quickly blasting Hunter with chopping combos.

Round 8

Franco stalks with no wasted movement, cutting the ring off as Hunter runs its length. Franco flings accurate straight punches while moving, and gets Hunter back into his clinching pattern. It backfires on him as Franco's head smashes into his eye, causing Hunter to wince. A point is taken from Franco. Hunter is flurried into a corner and throws a low blow and is DISQUALIFIED.

 

Farhood and Tarver suggest that Hunter found an easy way out of this fight knowing he was being dominated.

They're right.

This was Brandon Rios vs. Anthony Peterson all over again (except with a lesser puncher).

 

He took one in the 2nd and had given a few warnings since.

 

Yeah I just fixed that. :yep

That was his Oscar moment.
