I've never heard of that happening before.

Ed Perry used Lateef Kayode's same ring-walk music (Don't Stop Believing by Journey) because he didn't bring his own.

    Round 1

Kayode hops around laterally, easily picking off the weak jab of Perry. Kayode keeps a tight guard and just watches Perry, waiting. A few jabs from Kayode land right on the dreadlocks, and a sweeping hook grazes Perry's beard. Perry begins moving around a bit to his left as Kayode starts letting his hands go a little. Perry has some nervous energy, bouncing his shoulders and keeping a cautious eye on Kayode. A double jab from Kayode backs Perry up, and he opens up on him near the end of the round forcing him to duck and cover.

    10-9 Kayode

    Round 2

Perry thrusts his jab over the top and recoils right into a defensive posture. Kayode flicks out his 1-2 and lead left hook very economically, with his gloves up high at his brow. The lead left hook is going high or getting caught on Perry's right wrist, but shaking him a bit. Kayode abandons it and throws a dozen quick consecutive love-tap jabs into Perry's face. BIG hook to the body by Kayode, and he triples it up causing Perry to quickly back away. Perry lands a left hook of his own (partially on the forearm and partly on the chin). They box from range with their jabs until the bell.

    20-18 Kayode

    Round 3

Kayode finds a bobbing Perry with power jabs high and low. They start to slug it out a bit as Perry hops to the side and throws big punches while in midair, with Kayode blocking them and trying to smash Perry before he lands. Kayode is caught with a good stiff jab from Perry and comes back with a combo to the head. Perry pushes forward with his jab, on even footing with Kayode. They take turns blocking and throwing jabs. Kayode lowers himself and throws a squatting body hook. Hard double jab from Kayode is followed by a hard right cross as Perry leans down and away. Perry lands a counter left and follows with a short-range combo.

That round was Perry's best yet, but not quite enough.

    30-27 Kayode

    Round 4

The two begin circling and jabbing very quickly, both landing and leading to some more heated exchanges of power punches. Perry lands well and gets a right hand down the pipe. Kayode answers in kind a few moments later. Perry blocks some hard shots and stays right in the pocket. Kayode punishes him with another very hard cross, sending sweat flying off his head. The pace has slowed down again, favoring Kayode. BIG body hook again by Kayode sets up a long combination, but Perry throws a counter right hand while taking heavy blows. A pair of body shots to the right and left side drop Perry to a knee. He gets up and back into the fray, with Kayode clubbing him until the bell but Perry looking OK.

    40-35 Kayode

    Round 5

Perry jabs and circles, not giving any ground. Kayode waits for opening and bursts out of his high guard with hard hooks, lead rights and lead uppercuts - mostly headhunting. Kayode sticks his left arm out into Perry's face, Klitschko style to set up a cross. Kayode continues to work the soft midsection of Perry, thumping it in between power punches upstairs. Perry backs up and moves his head but still gets ripped with a hard right hand by a surging Kayode, even with his neck cricked.

    50-44 Kayode

    Round 6

A lone lead right to the chin wobbles Perry slightly. Kayode warms up and starts throwing in combination, nailing Perry's body with a left hook to set up a cross to the beard and leaving him kneeling and gasping in the corner.

    KO!

Perry lost every round and was overmatched, but he came to fight. I like to see that!

Great fights and great fights for both prospects, Kayode and Franco. Good competition for them as they work there way up the ladder in their respective divisions.
