ShoBox: Marcus Johnson vs. Dyah Davis + Nelson-Arroyo, O'Connor-Bracero RBR

I'd have preferred to not know that, actually. Obviously I am not currently watching Telefutura (while doing a Showtime RBR) and had planned on watching it on DVR.

Oh well..

 

Round 1

Johnson jabbing and keeping his left arm hung low, rolling his shoulder. Davis pops him over the top with a right hand, but Johnson shakes it right off while still coming forward. Davis tips forward and throws a 1-2 up on his toes. Davis is circling left and leading with pot shot jabs. Johnson is following, not really cutting the ring off and neither leading or counter punching. Davis taps Johnson between the eyes with a jab and then slaps the top of his head mid-duck with a short flurry while moving. Davis moves and pops his 1-2. Johnson bides his time while plodding after Davis, looking for chances to land his power. A few times Johnson throws a 1-2 and has it blocked as Davis leans against the ropes. Davis pops a jab in his face, now a right hand.

Round 2

Davis slaps with both hands high, and then digs a few body shots while moving laterally. Johnson keeps sliding along after him, posing and trying to get him lined up for a straight power shot. Davis pops his jab and circles left in a hurry, not landing the jab but keeping it in Johnson's line of vision. Nice right hand across the face by Davis after blinding Johnson with a couple of pesky jabs. Johnson tackles him into the ropes. They are broken up by the ref. Davis is slipping and defending well, luring Johnson in and grabbing, pulling him into the ropes. Davis landing a precipitation of soft blows.

Round 3

Johnson is pressing forward now, paying a little more attention to angles and trapping Davis against the ropes. Big body punches by Johnson. Davis keeps boxing him from the outside behind his jab, setting up his right crosses on the go. Johnson throws a jab up high, then pulls the chain on a halfway-delivered right to the body and throws a hard high left hook. Johnson throws a right hand lead to the chest. Davis backs up to the ropes and leans away, but flips his hands out in a blur. Johnson keeps pressing, and Davis flees, hugging the ropes.

Shitty round. Johnson's body punches early on may have tipped it for him.
