ShoBox: Michael Perez vs. Fidel Maldonado Jr. & Randy Caballero vs. Manuel Roman RBR

He's only 21, but some of his TV appearances (especially Araiza) have revealed some disturbing limitations even for his age and progress level.

 

Round 8

Caballero is dancing left as Roman looks for a right hand to the body, grazing with it. Caballero doubles his jab into Roman's face, at enough of a distance to only brush him with it. Caballero loops a big right hand in, and they butt heads. Left hook by Roman. 1-2 by Caballero misses, but gets him inside where he holds and hits carrying Roman to the ropes. Roman flurries up into the guard, trying to backhand it out of the way. The ref warns them to watch their heads on the inside. Roman punctures through Caballero's guard with an upward left, then gets in a right uppercut to the chest. Flush 1-2 by Caballero at the bell.

Round 9

Looping right by Caballero, falling in. Big left upper-hook by Caballero, partially caught on the bottom of Roman's arms. Caballero hooks his way in and collapses against Roman missing an overhand right. Jab by Caballero, blocked. Roman doubles a right softly into Caballero's guard. Roman clinches as Caballero comes in with a stunted left to the body, twisting himself awkwardly into it. Wild right hand by Caballero jumping in, bringing some of the crowd to its feet in a whistling frenzy. Roman hugs as Caballero throws over his head and misses. Right to the body by Roman. A few left hooks attempted by Roman, finding Caballero a fluid target as he ducks back and propels off his heels. Caballero sits on the middle rope as Roman flurries into his face and lands a bit, very lightly.

Round 10

Caballero is jabbing to the body and leaning back, moving his head. Roman walks into him and crooks his left arm around his waist, chopping him across the back of the head with his right. The ref says "don't ruin a good fight! :nono" while splitting them. Caballero leaps up with a right hand out of a crouch, missing. Both men missing badly. Caballero lands his next right out of the crouch. Roman lines up rights to the body on the outside, and slaps the body in the clinch. Caballero is very ineffective, flopping and diving in against Roman without even punching, missing jabs on the outside. Roman comes chopping in, and is shaken slightly by a counter right hand but not hurt or dissuaded from coming forward and flailing away. Left hook by Caballero.

Barry Tompkins agreed with me that Roman did his best in the 10th and that's pretty much the one you could give him.
