Round 6

Maldonado is stepping to his right and throwing short chopping body shots from mid range. Perez is pushing out with his left jab and trying to dodge shots with quick steps back, hands down. Maldonado catches him with a rising left. Perez is caught in a headlock as Maldonado misses a right hook over his shoulder, then hit in the clinch with a left to the chest. Maldonado waits on the outside, popping a left hand as Perez comes in. A few single rights by Perez reaching in. Very tit for tat, very slow pace.

Round 7

Maldonado down, slip. Right hook by Maldonado. Double straight right hand by Perez. BIG left hook to the jaw by Perez as Maldonado comes forward with no defense. Perez is pushing the jab out, lining up, and rushing forward with the uppercut to the sternum. Head movement by Perez, dropping and rolling to either side as Maldonado takes a few tired swipes at him and misses at point blank. Left hook to the head by Perez, slipping some more shots, and trying a right to the chest. Maldonado rips off a combo, going from body to head as Perez ducks and gets his arms up in front of him. Flush jab to the forehead by Maldonado, knocking Perez's head back. Perez is walked to the ropes and flurried upon. Perez dances off the ropes, moving right, landing the 1-2, threading it between Maldonado's gloves. Maldonado walks in and grabs him, whacking him on the side while holding. Left hand by Maldonado and he tries to follow up immediately with another but gets tied up.

Round 8

Lead left by Maldonado. Combination, putting shots together straight and hard. Flush left to the chin by Maldonado. Perez ducks and pushes up off his knees, creating an ululating target. Rights to the body by Perez ducking down while circling. Maldonado comes forward and lands lead lefts, and then right jabs and swatting hooks. Perez gets in some flush straight counter rights, but is getting pushed around. Left hand lead to the face by Maldonado, jolting Perez against the ropes. Maldonado is pushed back, eating a right hand. Maldonado may have punches himself out a bit. Perez comes on strong, scoring with the right. Maldonado holds, then digs a shoulder into his belly. Maldonado circles back and lands a BIG looping left to the face, rocking Perez.

He did, presumably, unless they're saving it for a swing bout in case of early knockouts in either half of the doubleheader.

Actually pipe, I take that back, J'Leon tweeted from Floyd's gym two hours ago and stated his next time in the ring is on that September 8th card alongside Sugar Shay.
