He is what he is. Skill-wise, he is no more than a pure brawler with a Friday night ceiling. He does have big power, chin (ignore the DeMarco blitzkrieg) which he unfortunately is too content to rely on which could shave years off his career if not life, and determination.

    Basically this:

His resume has names like Bey, Williams and Lundy elevating it beyond that mid-card eminence solely because of that combination of attributes (power, chin, will) and naught else. His skills are frankly deplorable for someone with that resume.

Hell, Chris Avalos looks a master craftsman in comparison. (though in fairness Avalos has actually spent the last few years improving...while Molina has plateaued and still just does what he does...and having success with it when matched with talented/skilled but fragile types)

Peterson beat Holt after he tested positive and Berto lost before testing positive.... find a new pattern pattern genius.

Floyd Sr. lost Bey that fight. Horrible advice going into the last round.

He had Bey punching low, targeting the body knowing that Molina was looking for those bombs to the head. He was well ahead on the cards and there was no reason for him to risk anything. I really dont know what Sr. was thinking. Just stupid!

    :nono

Buddy Sr. >>>> Floyd Sr. - as fighters, or as trainers.

Buddy gets a bad rap but he is often stuck in bad situations with hopelessly outmatched guys that nobody could help. (although he did absolutely ruin Malignaggi for a few years and deserves full blame for that)

Floyd makes everybody he coachesdemonstrably worse. Buddy did it to one guy, Malingaggi, and it was simply a well-intentioned but misguided style retooling. Floyd does it to everybody, and it's down to basic incompetence and the fact that he DKSAB.

    pretty much man

for someone who is supposed to be a 'world class trainer', Sr. was complete **** tonight. His fighter did exactly what was asked of him and it more than likely snuffed whatever career he had left to salvage. I would be pissed if i was Bey.

It almost appeared for a while that most all "name" fighters on their last leg would use Buddy, knowing he'd "Pull that plug, baby" if an ass whoopin' started to commence. :think

Jack is flawed and shouldn't helm a world-class corner, but at least he does occasionally give decent technical advice. "DOUBLE THE ****ING JAB" has to apply once in a while...broken clock twice a day, ya know...:yep

Mayweather Senior just flat out sucks.

That comparison wasn't a knee-jerk reaction, either. For several years now I've consistently defended McGirt on here as underrated/victim of a bad rap...and decried Floyd Joy Sinclair as nothing but a fraud living off his brother's & son's name whose brain-dead stuttering ass couldn't handle coaching a girl's softball team.

He is as bad, as technically plain useless (and roughly as classless) as Yoel Judah.

OMG! Bey had that fight won! Molina kept catching him with rights, but until the light bulb on top his head turned on and he unleashed the left hook that started it all. Bey coulda just coasted, but I was seeing the same thing Sr. saw and Bey to be honest was hurting and slowing down Molina bad with bodyshots. I guess Sr underestimated Molina cuz it really did look he had nothing left and ready to get stopped. Who ready for Molina-Bey II? Bring it!!!

    I hear ya'

With Sr. I guess he "gained" some rep workin' with Oscar too, but yeah, his delivery is terrible.

Fighter gets to the corner: "now l-l-loo-look at here, l-l-loo-look here, ya..ya..you nee...nee...need to.....to......" DING...

This is why boxing is great. Molina was about to get seriously hurt himself before koing Bey. Amazing turn of events.
