Benítez has a nasty cut. The commentators are criticizing the corner for their handling of it (or lack thereof), not using an endswell to control it, etc..

 

Sánchez comes out with a vicious flurry, a body to head shoeshine punctuated by a short looping right on the jaw to lull Benítez... setting up the kill-shots, a big left hook downstairs and then a massive right cross upstairs while Benítez was sucking wind, jolting Benítez... the ref jumps in, seems to have been poised waiting for an excuse to stop it because of the cut anyway. (cautioning Benítez's camp between rounds that he needed to show more between the seventh and eighth..)

TKO8!!!

Benítez's face was an ugly mess, there was a sack of purple flesh on his right cheek, resembling a water balloon.

Sánchez is the new protégé of trainer Joel Díaz, who seems pretty happy with his performance.

 

Michael Angelo Dutchover vs. Rosekie Biaco Cristobal, 8 rounds @ light welterweight

 

Round 1

HUGE looping right by Cristobal as they answer the bell. They circle and Dutchover is pecking with the left jab, parrying away Cristobal's southpaw jab, countering a torpedo left downstairs with a flush counter right on the bottom of the chin. Ducking and rising while tiptoeing inside with a crab stance, Cristobal tries sweeping in with right hooks and hammering down with a left but Dutchover is turning above the waist, curling into a chrysalis, and unwinding explosively with right hands up top. HUGE left hook on the liver as they step together in the pocket and Cristobal is on all fours, gasping, riding the count past ten.

KO1!!

 

Six rounds faster than Denys Berinchyk stopped Cristobal!

 

In fairness to him, Rosekie was a three days' substitute..

 

Steve Farhood interviews Brandon Adams, of whom I already was a fan, now more so. He promises fireworks against Charlo, and says when asked to describe his style for the Showtime fans that have never seen him before (why does Farhood like to assume there are people that watch Showtime boxing exclusively? ) that he aims to keep it entertaining...for the fans, for himself...and hell, even the opponent, if they're open to appreciate being razzle-dazzled while he's whooping them.
