ShoBox: Sammy Vasquez vs. Emmanuel Lartei Lartey RBR

Now I start over with (hopefully) Vasquez...

 

Round 1

Vasquez is catching Lartey with right jabs on the nose jumping in. Vasquez is landing diving lefts on the belt line. Lartey is leaning back, standing his ground until Vasquez gets close and then hustling to his right, popping a few quick right jabs. Big right hooks on the body and hard lefts on the kisser by Vasquez. Lartey fights back as he gets driven into the ropes. Jab on the body by Lartey. Vasquez is whipping fastball jabs out while darting in. Lartey tries timing him with a check hook but misses.

Round 2

Vasquez is stalking, letting his right glove dangle by his thigh as the crowd chants "Sammy" to egg him on. Vasquez instead remains calm and collected, planting jabs on Lartey and keeping him on the ropes, at long range, not allowing him to escape but also not blundering in carelessly to be countered.

Round 3

Vasquez is working the jab, drawing the well-pail up the length of his body before throwing. Lartey is punching from the chest, scoring his 1-2. Lartey moving around the center-ring sponsor's logo, not allowing Vasquez to walk him to the ropes anymore. Vasquez has a hairline cut. Vasquez is forcing Lartey to give ground, stabbing him between the wrists with the sharp right jab, barking and landing on the throat or chin.

Round 4

Vasquez is diligently paddling Lartey with the right jab, using a variety of footwork, in-and-out, gliding laterally on his insoles, stepping behind Lartey with his lead foot lunging out to cross his opponent's. Lartey is just hopping away, in a turtle shell, throwing occasional jabs of his own.
