You clearly have an agenda against certain fighters you're opinion is irrelevant in this case.

    Which ones

I'm eastern European and most of my favorite fighters are EE, I just call it how it is.

Guys like Khytrov and Kudryashov just don't pass the eye test for me

    Derevyanchenko is ridiculous, man.

390-20 in the amateurs (losing to only world class operators like Matvey Korobov...and beating many in the same league including Korobov...and Ievgen Khytrov...and Zaurbek Baysangurov)

21-1 in WSB (the loss to Brian Castano)

Now only 5-0 (soon to be 6-0) in the pros and just about ready for a title shot.

I might pick him with confidence over, say, Willie Monroe Jr. right now.

    No, man, he's right.

How are you not seeing what a difference in class there is between Derevyanchenko and Khytrov? :huh

    Plain as day to me.

Which means you'd pick him over Chris Eubank Jr as well?

Yet he figured him out by halfway through round 4 and still got him out of there and won the last 4 rounds and got the stoppage, debatably Khytrov hasn't lost a round of his pro career until tonight, Collazo made Thurman look horrible at times and you defend Thurman's average performance. I think you're undervaluing Ievgen.

    Round 4

Derevyanchenko is toying with Ayala, using step-feints and scoring lead uppercuts and just about every punch in the book at will, all textbook, all in groupings with very few missed or blocked. Ayala is pushing out a long jab while propelling himself across the canvas off the ball of each shoe.

    10-9 Derevyanchenko

    40-36 Derevyanchenko

I have said this before, perhaps i should refrain, but Sergei is what a MW Canelo needs to be but isn't. Granted we haven't seen Canelo as a real MW but due to their stature you need certain things and while Canelo's reflexes and handspeed are a bit better Sergei's footwork is very good and the real difference maker.

His defense while not as flashy is very solid and more functional for a smaller man who needs to get into and stay in range rather than using excessive upperbody movement while keeping you feet planted. Canelo may make you miss but he becomes stationary while doing so. He's also much more refined and intelligent with setting up, generating and selecting his offense.

Watching Canelo throw dozens of right hands at Lara and miss while the Cuban just skirted along the ropes and leaned back like he was checking something on his roof was utterly painful. How someone doesn't adjust and start feinting or throwing it downstairs to start landing is beyond me. I think Sergei will be a better MW than Canelo.

Well after Golovkin when guys like Jacobs, Lee, Eubank are considered top MW's i guess it's a matter of perspective. He'll be good enough to compete at that level.

    Round 5

Derevyanchenko is thudding home 1-2-1s on the body and cutting the ring off expertly, rolling with Ayala's jabs and two-armed poke flurries. Derevyanchenko is clanging the sides and causing swelling all over Ayala's face with his accuracy, picking his spots and throwing without any wasted movement.

    10-9 Derevyanchenko

    50-45 Derevyanchenko

 He is, as his moniker suggests, a Technician. Like a Vasyl Lomachenko.

The criticisms of Khytrov tonight were perfectly fair. They echo similar criticism that have cropped up throughout his pro run, because he isn't all that special.

You're just dead wrong on him, man. Successor to Golovkin and Kovalev? No way. He doesn't have a tenth of either man's skill. He's the next Lemieux.

Fun to watch, and if you want to root for him, great. He may even wear a belt at some point. He'll never be a special fighter, though. He just lacks too much in the pros, and there are far more well-rounded guys from his own country alone...such as the gem we are watching now.
