Ievgen says he had a rotten stomach tonight, so you guys should cut him some slack, he got the KO with a belly ache, let's see some of you do that.

I think Khytrov has regressed since the amateurs and I'm not sold on his training team at all. That said, Brinson looks a pretty good operator to me and he only has two loses on his ledger, one to an undefeated 15-0 Dominic Wade and the other to a 22-1 Andre Dirrell who many on here will try and have you believe is only rivaled in the talent department by Sugar Ray Robinson and Willie Pep. That fight was up at SMW too, or technically LHW as both were slightly over the SMW limit. As far as I'm aware Brinson has only been off his feet once before so I think he has a decent set of whiskers. He was also pretty cute defensively last night in the way he was able to block a lot of Khytrov's shots with his arms.

I don't know much about Dominic Wade but in his fight prior to facing Brinson he knocked out the durable Marcus Upshaw in 2. Upshaw had lasted the distance against David Lemieux in he previous fight to that and he also lasted the distance against Marco Antonio Rubio and an undefeated 23-0 Gilberto Ramirez a few fights before then too. So that might lend credence to Brinson possessing a solid set of whiskers. But again, I'm not familiar with Wade.

Khytrov definitely needs to let his hands go more freely. He should've been fighting the whole fight like the way he came out at the start of the second round. I think he would've got Brinson out of there earlier than he did had he done so.

As for Derevyanchenko, he looks seriously talented. He's a joy to watch. I can see why he goes by the moniker ''The Technician''. Ayala has been stopped 3 times but all 3 of those loses came against monster hitters who've all displayed chilling one punch finishing power (Lemieux, Stevens, and Abraham) numerous times in the past. He was also coming off back-to-back upset wins over a 27-1-1 albeit aged Aaron Mitchell and an 11-0 Ronald Gavrill.

    You can't say stuff like:

before the fight, and argue with me tooth and nail about Khytrov's power, and then say you figured it was always going to be a tough night

The problem is, it isn't what Brinson did, it was how Khytrov responded to it. He followed him around like he was on a leash, had no jab, no set up, and got the win how he almost always gets the win, like I told you last night, accumulation and pressure, not one punch KO power

Sergei's fight went to a decision, but he still displayed an extraordinary amount of skill, technique, and intelligence in that fight to know he has a big future, Khytrov on the other hand didn't display anything extra, and never really has so far in his pro career

You need to accept the fact that this dude isn't the one to overtake GGG like you said he would, and he'll never be as talented as guys like Kovalev or Lomachenko

I figured Brinson would be a problem for a few rounds and then Khytrov would figure him out and stop him in 4 or 5. Khytrov usually does jab his way in, he usually cuts of the ring well, he's usually much quicker, his power was enough to hurt Brinson enough in the first 4 rounds that he was gassing in the 5th was in survival mode from 6th to the stoppage. Sure Khytrov is far from the greatest boxer who ever laced up a pair of gloves, but he isn't the one trick pony you're trying to make him out to be either.

Take a step back and think for a second he destroyed a guy who usually makes his opponents look bad early while sick, if that had been a 12 rounder it would have been a great success. Even GGG struggled with Bouadla a little in his 9th fight and against Ouma later in his career, and no I don't think Khytrov is on the level of GGG.

For the record for anyone reading this and didn't get my bad attempt at satire, I was being sarcastic, I love Derevyanchenko and think he's an immensely skilled fighter.

    :good

Khytrov is Johnnie Walker black label, Derevyanchenko is a top shelf 15 year old single malt.
