Joey Abell is just another talentless weak-chinned local hypejob, but he has some real power and Teke Oruh is an absolute joke. He has zero boxing ability, a glass chin, zero power, zero stamina, and his best skill is holding. During his last match he won a robbery decision against a D level fighter after suffering a knockdown in the first and holding nonstop for the rest of the rounds. He's just another "undefeated" fighter who is put up against other young fighters to make them look good. That's why he was originally supposed to fight Chris Arreola. He has the same promoter as him and beating an undefeated prospect would give him some more hype. If you bet on boxing, this is an opportuity to make easy money because the sportsbooks don't know about Oruh, who has never fought on TV before. The odds opened up at even and now they're at -145 for Abell. The under rounds was close to even at first but now it's in the -200 range. Oruh will defiinitely get knocked out very fast.
20 year old Andre Ward 2004 Gold Medalist13-0 is coming up in the first fight at 168 vs 21 yr old Roger Cantrell 12-0:good
Hard to say, the other guy's record is pretty darn padded. Looks like a regional fighter to me. Is Oruh's chin THAT bad - and how do you guys know??
Ward needs to turn up the volume. He's more skilled and landing some of the better shots but allowing Cantrell to hang in there. I would have picked Ward Wide UD, hard to say where its at yet. Cantrell looks tough enough to go 10.
Yes, it is THAT bad. I'm not in the position to certify a Grade A China Chin like you, but I was in San Jose when Oruh won that robbery decision on the Toney undercard. He was hurt and dropped with a weak punch by a D level fighter that doesn't even have good power for that level. Also he fights scared, like Audley Harrison and he clinches out of panic.
:happy Ward turns it up and the ref calls it as Ward began to batter Cantrell with major shots. Ward TKO 5
Wow, Cantrell looks like he's ready to go out. Edit: Ref stops it! It was early but it was bound to happen anyways.
Able has a 1st rd TKO loss to a 3 and 0 fighter 8 fights ago the announcers said. Maybe both have chin issues
The Showtime guys are saying that if it goes late it benefits Oruh because of his boxing ability over Abell, who's a typical brawler. Oruh has horrible stamina though, so either way, he's screwed. He will get hit on the chin at some point (probably early too because he can't relax and has bad defense) and get knocked out.
I'm actually favoring Teke in this one, just because of the sparring he's done. His record is also slightly better.
