We're certainly not looking at a prime JMM, but I thought he looked faster for this fight with Katsidis, than he did in any of his other lightweight fights.......
.....could be a case that he has become accustomed to fighting at this weight.

.......and as far as gettting hit, Marquez is an offensive counterpuncher. He's aggressive and aggresive fighters get hit.

I only saw a handful of really clean hard shots that Katsidis landed. I looked at the replay this morning and saw Marquez really doing a good job bobbing and weaving his head and using good and sound waist movements to avoid Katsidis' bigger shots.

Now look at the other side, Manny Pacquiao?????
You talk about Marquez' defense, how about Pacquiao's???
He got hit plenty from a slow plodding Margarito.
Pacquiao's face was marked up worst than Marquez vs Katsidis, and from what I hear, Margarito did a number on Pacquiao's midsection that required medical attention.
If you want to talk about defense, look at both sides is all I'm saying.

What really Impressed me the most were the constant body shots... that paid dividends in the later rounds and took away anything KATS could have possibly conjoured up later.

It was funny most connected shots where at the CHIN, and Body where the pain is felt the most... 1-2 Uppercuts left right... ****ING AMAZING ****. Dude is 37 years old... speed is still there, and stamina, and most important still has enough power.. and the great experience...

Amazing stuff we SAW and it is an honor everytime I watch him fight.

Jesus this is ******ed. Pacquiao would absolutely annihilate Marquez. So much is going wrong in this discussion it is untrue. Marquez looked good but not great, for one. Katsidis is a C+ level fighter at absolute, absolute best. And he had Marquez on his ass and landing a fair amount of solid shots. Someone mentioned about JMM weighing the same he did when he fought Floyd and looking far, far better. Of course he did he fought a borderline nobody. He could weigh in at 200lb and if you put him in there with a six foot pile of assorted dog **** he will look like a million bucks.

Let's face it, Marquez is a ****ing warrior and a beast but Pacquiao would end him. And it wouldn't even take long so those of you saying it would be a war until it ended would be sadly mistaken.

those same mother****ers will say Pacquiao fought another shot fighter after he destroys Marquez. Pac can't get a break from all these so called boxing experts.

I personally hope for Berto. Obviously, if not Mayweather. Guy is big and strong and black (which sadly, is a requisite it seems, now). Good power and athletic prime. Undefeated. I mean, don't get me wrong, Pac obliterates him too, but no matter who he beats he's getting criticized, and there are simply less reasons to criticize a Berto fight than one with old, easy to hit Marquez and the old, actually decomposing corpse of Shane Mosley.

You know, the same thing could be said of Pacquiao.
He's looked spectacular, but also take notice on his side that he's fought nothing but fighters who are there to be hit.

Marquez did'nt look good against Mayweather, but he does'nt lend himself to exchanges.......no fighter on Pacquiao's resume is even comparable to Mayweather's defense and elusiveness, which is why I'm of the opinion that Pacquiao would do even worse against Mayweather than Marquez did.

opinion doesn't mean **** when it comes to pacquiao. if it does,, then he loses to delahoya and barrera. floyd would not need to step it up and fight pacquao if we would just based it on opinions.

He got hit waaaay to much. No way he should fight Pac. That said, I'd rather watch that than Berto.

I believe it is hugely unhelpful when people highlight a passage and say something like "this is where I stopped reading". But that final sentence almost did it for me.

Ignoring the fact that I have no idea how what I originally said, you have taken and used to segue into a Mayweather vs. Pacquiao argument, I just want to get it straight that your logic is as follows:

Pacquiao has never fought a fighter with defense comparable to Mayweather's. Therefore, Pacquiao would do worse than Marquez did.

What? What kind of logic is this?

Who on Roy Jones' pre-Toney resume had a defense comparable to Toney's?

What you said is true, that Pacquiao has by and large fought fighters who are there to be hit. But the facts in your post pretty much ended there.

Also, you're aware that Pacquiao is literally one of the greatest offensive fighters in history. Right?

Personally Id rather see Pac fight Marquez. Mosley is shot. Marquez has proved that he still has great stamina and speed. Yes, Katsidis is just a third tier boxer - reminded me of Ricky Hatton, a pressuriser/brawler with barely any defence, those fighters will always get beaten up by quality opposition, but even so, I think Marquez proved that he is still a great fighter. I mean, Id like to see pac - martiniz/mayweather, even berto. But I dont think these fights will happen for various reasons. Marquez is likely and should be way more of a competition then Mosley.

yep. jmm looked pretty much the same like he did 2 years ago against pac. but that's the point. jmm has kept his skills but hasn't improved since then. he still got KD'd by the very same punch 4 more times after, and that's excluding the barrera fight which happened before his second fight w/ pac.

pac, on the other hand, has very noticably improved during these past 2 years after their second fight and seems to be still improving with every fight.

yeah, i agree bring on pac-jmm3 and we'll really know who the better fighter is since their last fight.
