Shocked by how good JMM was - best he has looked in years. Bring on Pac-JMM 3!

I actually missed the fight myself but plan on watching it as soon as I can (of course)

Ps. Has this performance changed your mind & will you reluctantly admit that FMJs performance vs the great Marquez was nothing short of masterful from a very special boxer ? (Dont want another FMJ-Pac thread but I do remember you blaming JMMs age etc more than Floyds talent)

Pac vs Marquez is a much more intruiging fight than Shane Mosely I concur but it has to happen at 140 lbs. Anything higher than that I doubt Pac gets any credit whatsoever.. Marquez did a great job last night but he looked slightly vulnerable in the first few rounds, something to think about as Pac is no Katsidis..

You remember wrongly then mate, because the weight was the issue for me, not JMM's age.

Here is a post from earlier on this thread which explains my thoughts on the matter a little further:

You definitely should get hold of Marquez-Katsidis ASAP though. It's a really entertaining fight. Obviously Katsidis makes it tough, seeing as he is naturally bigger and stronger than Marquez, but JMM's combination punching is sublime. His defence isn't great, but unlike some people on this thread I don't believe it ever was.

FYI for some of the people on this thread, PBF was 152 on fightnight vs Marquez, JMM was 144. 8lbs may not seem like much in this, the Pacquiao era, but when the guy with an 8lbs advantage is (a) faster, (b) more comfortable and experienced in that weight class, and (c) has a longer reach and is taller, 8lbs becomes a hell of a lot.

Although Pac makes weight differences of 8lbs and more seem like nothing, that does not mean all fighters can do so. Many great fighters are simply not suited to jumping weight classes or fighting much bigger opponents. Marvin Hagler, at 5ft 8in, showed no interest in ever going to lhw to fight the 6ft 3in Michael Spinks, and rightly so. And we saw how bad ODLH looked vs Sturm at mw, there are plenty of examples of fighters not coping well with gaining weight and fighting naturally bigger opponents.

JMM found it hard going fighting J.Diaz at 135, as he is a natural feather/superfeather. Of course he was going to fail against a bigger, heavier welterweight after trying to bulk up to a weight he should have never been at.

JMM weighing in 140 and 145 on fightnight vs Pac weighing in 140 and 148 on fightnight = a fairer fight than JMM weighing in 142 and 144 on fightnight vs Floyd weighing in 146 and 152 on fightnight.

    No???

The JMM vs Floyd fiasco will go down as one of the biggest jokes in recent history. To bring a small man over 10% of his normal fighting weight up somewhere he never fought and to have the so called greatest put on more weight towards his comfortable junior middleweight range and pay him 600k as a penalty is just a disgrace. It shows absolutlely nothing.
