Where you're fighting guys who are giving up close to 1 ft in both height and reach and still can't dominate them it's because you're not really good. At least Valuev had one hell of a chin.
No, Fundora thought he was standing and was somewhat in a shock that the ref was now taller than him. In all seriousness, I just think those shots completely disconnected him from his legs. His eyes seemed clear but you could also tell that he was in LaLa land and didn't quite know WTF just happened.
Fundora was in no condition to continue. He couldn't have gotten to his feet by a 10 count and even if he did, he would not have been able to survive the incoming onslaught. Had he gone down from the left hook he *might* have been okay, but the two follow-ups were night night.
To me this one looked a lot like the Povetkin--Price KO. Nice hook landed, opponent out on his feet, and then a couple of hooks on the defenseless fighter to end matters. Only difference: Povetkin only needed one finalizing hook, and the referee waved it off as soon as Price hit the canvas.
He might. I didn't see the fight but it doesn't appear from the highlights that he took a career-ending beating in that fight. He just got caught and it will be a valuable learning experience for him.
Fair play to the ref giving Fundora the luxury of a full count, over here the away fighter would have been waived off at the two count !
I can't say I was surprised by the outcome. Fundora likes to trade and use his face as his defense. That's going to catch up with you as you face better opposition. That lazy uppercut he threw from long range was an amateur move. He seems a good and tough guy but he really needs a good trainer that can teach him how to use his physical assets and minimize his liabilities. He also needs to be open to the schooling which is usually half the problem.
**** everyone, no one picked Fundora to lose last night in spectacular fashion. That was an earthshaker of a KO.
