I'll get right on that. There is a reason why you are the only person here defending this fight. It's not because everyone else is blind/wrong, either.
It's because I know enough about prizefighting to see what is taking place. I'm not defending, but not bitching about it either. I understand why the two are fighting each other.
Everybody does. It's not exactly difficult to understand the reasoning. Congrats on figuring it out though. Doesn't mean he deserves it or that it should be defended.
They obviously don't because even more interest, viewers and comparisons are drawn by common opponents. Not defending, but not up in arms over this.
There is a difference between understanding and agreeing (defending ) something. You shouldn't take this personal.
Well, I guess some of us are more interested in intriguing fights between worthy, and (to drive this word into the ground) deserving competitors than PPV numbers.
A super fight between Anderson Silva and JJ tops any title defense JJ could make right now. JJ v Sonnen is about a lot more than PPV numbers :deal Go back in time and you will see that no other fight for JJ made more sense than this one. Gustafsson was booked and you can't tell me Glover deserves a Title Fight even at this point. Chael Sonnen doesn't either, but he's got more reasons than the rest of them: - Availability - Stepped up on short notice when nobody else did - Knows how to sell a fight - Just fought Anderson Silva in one of the most anticipated match ups of 2012. Anderson #ing Silva, the man that the fans want to see JJ fight hte most. Nothing is more intriguing than a super fight between the two, and this is how it's done. It's too bad that a month out some are still complaining over Chael Sonnen fighting JJ, but this is the way it is. The way the fight game has been for the past 50 years or so. This is why I don't think a lot of you understand because these fights leading up to the "big one" have happened time and time again. Anyone of you... Just go on and feel free to complain all you want and in every thread following this one. This time will pass and JJ will get on with his defending his belt.
I understand how the fight game works. Do you? What you have to understand is that the reason the UFC is reluctant to make the champion v champion super fights is because they make more money in the long run when fighters keep thier winning streaks. If Silva / Bones was to happen it would hurt ppv in the long run as at least one would lose thier appeal of invinsibility. On a sepreate note: Goal!!!
I feel that The UFC is anything but reluctant to make these super fights, but your entitled to that opinion. What I believe is that the fighters involved have a lot more to do with the outcome of negotiations than the promotion itself. GSP, Mayweather and Pacquiao have proven this over recent years. But, in the end what do I know? None of us know for sure what goes on behind closed doors :good
Nah, it's going to be another fight by two guys that aren't championship level anymore, that actually fight to try and finish one another. Another Stann vs. Silva type fight, how it's supposed to be.
