Problem with Machida is not with him, but it's the esotericness of his style. No one can possibly grasp how absurdly difficult what he's doing actually is unless they, in effect, have attempted to do something of the like. As a belted TKD fighter (former, stopped at age 14), and having added Muay Thai and boxing to my striking form, what Machida does is beyond exceptional and you really can't grasp what he's doing unless you actually try it yourself. And he's only getting better and more acclimated to the Octagon.
Not saying one way or the other, but just putting it out there... Anderson has said multiple times that while sparring at Chute Box (And they go 100%, they go all out at Chute) Machida would easily get the better of him... Make of that what you will.
