Apparently Dana confirmed this to be true. I sincerely hope he is just trying to hype that everyone sees as a total mismatch. If (big if) Vera manages to pull off the upset, he would still be far from deserving of a rematch with Jones. A controversial win over Eliot Marshall and an upset over Shogun is just not a strong case for a title shot.

Shogun, who is likely to win this one, is also undeserving of a rematch at this point. He is coming off of a loss to Hendo. Beating Vera is not enough to earn another title shot, even if you are a legend in the sport, like Shogun.

Plus, both guys have already been dominated by Jones. I think everyone would rather see him face new blood rather than see these rematches.

...of course this is all assuming Jones beats Hendo.

But what if Vera dominated Shogun (an impossible scenario yes) even worse than Bones did?

No one has ever than done that.

He was in two very brutal fights last year. If Vera manages to dominate him, I would attribute it to wear and tear more than anything. Shogun may only be thirty, but his body is much older.

I would still be awfully impressed if Vera is able to pull off a victory.

I'd like to see Shogun get another crack at Jones, but he really has to earn it by beating some top guys first, so he has some momentum and some legitimacy.

To come off a loss to Hendo, beat Brandon Vera, and then get a title shot is complete bull****, and this is coming from a big, big Shogun fan.

I'd rather see Shogun fight Rashad or Gustafsson or Teixiera or L'il Nog or Phil Davis first.

Or Machida even? I doubt people would be interested in seeing Bones rematch both Shogun and Machida before he goes to hw, so they should probably fight each other to see who is more deserving of the shot at the champ.

That's why I don't blame Jones for wanting to go heavyweight, should he beat Hendo his next comp is between 2 guys he already brutally finished. The prob is that he cleaned out the division in record time and the only other names he hasn't already beaten are Gust and Lil Nog.

I don't think many fans are begging for Jones-Shogun/Vera-2
