Shohjahon Ergashev vs. Adrián Jaime Estrella & Vladimir Igorevich Shishkin vs. Ulises Sierra Jr. RBR

For those unfamiliar with Ergashev and wondering about his conditioning since all but two fights have ended quickly: he's a goddamn workhorse and gym rat, if you'll pardon the mixing of animal metaphors.

He took up boxing at the age of 14, taken under the wing of Rustam Majidov (basically the Emmanuel Steward of Uzbekistan) and got in the habit of sparring at least 15 rounds at once, as well as running 10-15km (6-9 miles). He attributes his insanely good conditioning to having eaten apricots grown native to his region (and drinking their juice), as there is a local superstition that apricots give you both physical strength & courage.


...aaaaaaaand, while I'm typing all that, he scores a goddamn body shot KTFO1. So never mind all that, we can learn about his gas tank some other time.

 

"Descendant of Tamerlane" is now 18-0 (16) with ten first-round stoppages...

 

Since the ******* finished the fight while I was typing an informative post and was unprepared to do a RBR type-up earlier:

Round 1

Ergashev is jabbing Estrella into the ropes, then lowering his right arm to bait Estrella, tossing a quick left hand counter down the pipe when Estrella tries his own high 1-2 from the orthodox stance pitched up on his tip-toes. Ergashev walks him into the ropes, standing up tall, menacing with the southpaw jab. High right jab feint, then a left uppercut into the floating rib, and Estrella is down clutching his sides in agony!

KO1!!!
