He's doing alright so far, but that smacked of "feeling out round" to me, on Shishkin's part. Let's see how Sierra's doing a little while from now..

 

...besides, Shishkin is definitely a natural SMW. He only ever fought here (plus a few at LHW).

 

Round 2

Shishkin is spearing the right hand up top into the side of Sierra's dome. Lots of movement by Sierra, not letting Shishkin get off with many of the jabs or combinations he favors up close, but Shishkin is content to pursue and toss line drive rights at the pale skin of the scalp exposed above Sierra's gloves when he forms up his tight high guard. Shishkin throwing it now in more overhand than straight fashion, but still making at least incidental contact with each atop the skull of Sierra. Not much counter offense from Sierra, just eluding.

Round 3

Sierra tries coming forward again, pushing jabs and crosses out from home base in front of his own chin. Shishkin is covering up and letting Sierra have a moment to grow in confidence, before skewering him with rights on the body to press him across the ring into the ropes before raising the rights up to headhunt once more. Sierra is getting tagged while standing frozen in place with his arms bunched up, often leaving a gap between his elbows and trunks which Shishkin exploits with more rights. Sierra turns his body sideways and skiffs his way inside with a 1-2 but it sails over the shoulder of Shishkin, who leans in and responds with his own, blocked.

Farhood has it 29-28 Shishkin, giving Sierra the first. His colleagues Raúl Márquez and Barry Tompkins both state they disagree and have it a shutout for Shishkin.

 

Yeah, kinda weird, he seems to have maybe regressed under Javan Hill?

 

Round 4

Shishkin is throwing away jabs to set up the right but not getting through with it as often - at least not upstairs. Sierra keeping his earmuffs clamped on, accepting the distance body pokes as collateral damage. Sierra is able to shrimp up and take Shishkin's reaching shots on the flank, and wend his way in with his own ambush 1-2s to body and head.
