Height is probably slightly less important in wrestling than boxing. But even there, the greatest wrestlers of all time were giants, extremely tall for normal humans though not at the Wlad level for boxers. Lopez is 6'5 and Karelin is 6'4-5. Most top level hws are at least well above average height. Even the silver medalist you cite was slightly above average height.

Still, it's an interesting thread. I don't think it's necessarily a big advantage at lower weight classes. Less strength and durability can offset the advantages you gain, since you have to be the same weight.

I'm not saying shorter fighters are superior at HW, I specifically said HW is a different story where you have a guy like Klitschko who is not only taller but also heavier than someone like Povetkin, that's why he was able to hold him down like that. If they were of same weight the shorter man Povetkin would be too strong and Klitschko wouldn't be able to do that.

If the average height increased in other weight classes with upper weight limit I think this is probably due to better weight cutting and fighters being larger than the fighters in the previous eras in the same weight classes is because they can cut more weight. So naturally they're going to be a bit taller.

Under that rationale I don't disagree with you too much.

Why are you focusing on HW when I specifically said that HW is a different story due to there not being an upper weight limit?

If being taller would be an advantage then a weight class like say 160 lbs would be filled with 6 foot 1 lanky skinny boxers and guys like 5 foot 10 Indongo would become the norm at 140 lbs.

WYD, it's just like every single other thing, on a person by person basis. What is for you is For You, that means not for everyone else.

Why is everything discussed on here have to be only black or white ? Why eliminate all the grey areas, you know the area 99% of the populations lives in
