Unfortunately it's only a couple of minutes. One of the best efforts by any former middleweight/welterweight.

Thank you alot. It's good that there's some Mickey Walker footage out there I think this may be the first time I'm seeing Mickey fight tbh. I'm becoming a fan of Walker.

It's not much. Hopefully the whole fight will be up some day. In the meanwhile I'd recommend to check out Walker's performances against Tommy Milligan, Ace Hudkins and Tommy Loughran.

Highlights of the Hudkins fight where Walker turned boxer:

I have 8 rounds of the Loughran fight, pretty neat to see Walker try his best in this lost. I though it was pretty close.

Thanks I enjoy watching Walker and I didn't know there was this much footage of him. I'll watch more of him for sure but from what I've seen he has good footwork, very good head movement, could feint well, was really strong, durable, and was known for being a pressure fighter hence the "bulldog" in his nickname but like you showed me he could be more of a boxer" too.

A sensational contribution of footage, showing some of the most legendary moments of Walker's career. There's some opportunity there to compare with how he later looked with Schmeling. Max had a hand speed advantage over an older and heavier Mickey in September 1932, but Sharkey was much better known for his hand speed than the German, and he obviously did not overwhelm Walker with it in July 1931. The Toy Bulldog had just turned 30 when this classic draw took place. He'd gone 15-0 in 1930, had won five more in 1931, and was coming off wins over Risko and Bearcat Wright. Might this 5'7" middleweight have also been the best heavyweight in the world just then?

The Sharkey fight is what utterly confirmed Mickey Walker among "The Gods of War."

Interestingly, Mickey was in awe of Jack Dempsey. And yet, I think that objective history leaves no doubt that he was greater than Dempsey ever was.

Yes Stonehands, the likes of Mayweather aside, fighters don't give a **** about who is greater than who...they're interested in the artistry and the heart and that's all.

Walker should be given all the respect that he can wallow in just for getting into the ring with Jack Sharkey.

I would have respected him if he had got splattered around the ring.

And some people think Floyd Mayweather would beat this guy.

Yes Mickey Walker in his bio claimed that Jack Dempsey was the greatest heavyweight that ever lived...Forgot the title of the book i read but it is in
the NYC public library system...Interesting book, co authored by Mickey..
I agree Mickey accomplished more than Dempsey, by virtue of Mickey walker gaining weight and licking the big boys, such as Johnny Risko, Maxie Rosenbloom, King Levinsky,Paolino Uzcudun,Bearcat Wright etc..Drawing with the peak Jack Sharkey was quite a feat too.
Sidenote -As a youngster my father took me to MSG on 8th Ave..before
we went into the Garden he took me into Mickey Walkers Bar,across the street...And he showed me Mickey Walker, behind the bar greeting some
customers...I knew very little about the great Mickey Walker at the time. The bar went out of business not long after....THE TOY BULLDOG,
name fit him like a glove !

If I remember right most people hat Mickey beating Sharkey. Most people had Schmeling beating Sharkey too the second time. thus making Walker-Schmeling the two best hws fighting each other in their fight.

Hm, I´m wondering if there could be made a case for Walker beeing ranked Top5 hw in the 30s. :think

Here, he does get splattered a bit, and I ABSOLUTELY respect him
    watching this:

Schmeling cannot finish him off! Walker's tenacity and survival of
the eighth round is mind boggling. Max put Louis out for the count,
but couldn't do it to Mickey. In Walker's closing stand over the final
1:10 following that last knockdown, he NEVER stops punching back!

    Hey, I think Sharkey-Mayweather or Schmeling-Mayweather would
be lovely to see, don't you?

The newspapers had Sharkey quite clearly beating Walker, but it was a great effort nonetheless and a "moral victory" for Walker.

He was top 5 atleast in the early 30's, but probably not the whole decade.
