What's a prime then? Douglas came into that fight in the best shape of his life with the most determination he ever had. It's not like he won that fight with one lucky shot. Douglas really was the better man that night in the ring.
I class a prime as a fighter who has a period when he won and looked good and promising - best stage of there career
Wow, again people showing their ignorance on ESB. Much like people don't understand what the term "undisputed" means in the world of boxing, they don't understand what the term "prime" means. Prime does not mean you won all your fights, it doesn't even mean you are that good of a fighter.. prime is the physical peak of a fighter. A fighter can be in his prime and lose 3 fights in a row, and is much the reason people always talk smack about Boxrec resume talkers.. they fail to take into account if the "name" on the resume was prime at the time... just because they lose, doesn't mean they were shot or not prime.. it means they lost. Post-prime is the time in between their physical best, but before they would be considered shot. Most of the big name guys right now are at this point, both Marquezs, Vasquez, Hatton, Mosley, etc. Prime just means when they were at their best.
