couple of threads on here got me thinking about this again I somewhat pride myself in having an acute eye for a shot fighter, one recent example I predicted George groves career wouldn’t go on past the wbss, as soon as his involvement was announced. Also that the ghost of VLAD without a win in three years, without a Ko in five odd, and coming off a loss at the age of forty something sporting a saggy back and grey swede was the very definition of a shot fighter. Some are easier than others granted Three names to cast your eye over, all shot, all still fighting; James Degale Carl Frampton Kell Brook Pick the bones out of that triplet and tell me who has the most left? FWIW I’ve put mine in the order I think, what about you?
None of the 3 are shot Brook probably has the best shot of winning titles as come 2020 the whole 154 division could be vacant when Hurd and Munguia move up. Brook could easily get a title. Degale has a harder time because the division has a lot of talent. We could see vacant belts here too though. I can't really see Degale beating a current champ, although he could beat Dirrell/Yilidirim. Frampton isn't that good at featherweight and would be way too small for superfeather
I don't think Brook is shot at all He looked pony in his last fight from the 2nd round onwards but I think its more his new trainer
Degale is far more shot than the other two, Brook`s probably past his best as he didn`t look impressive in his last bout and Frampton was just beaten by reach and superior tactics in his last bout, Frampton has far more left than the other two and was better than both of them P4P anyway, Brook can`t evade jabs and Groves exposed DeGale to a large degree.
Better p4p hell to the no, he just fought in **** weak midget divisions. An Errol Spence or Badou Jack level talent would kill him
Warrington fought better v Frampton than Spence did v Brook and he knows how exploit his reach better, and Jack was overated he struggled with Groves and DeGale.
The Truax loss confirmed to me that DeGale just doesn't have it anymore. That was a fight that not only should he never have lost, but he shouldn't have lost a round. I don't think he has it anymore, and a combination of age and injuries have taken their toll. If he's as static as he was for Truax I reckon Junior could batter him.
Brook is not shot at all. YOu saw in Rd1 and as John Fewkes said in sparring he was magic and best he looked. It was a bad day at the office, and coming in at 150 was silly when the fight was at 154. Zerafa was probably a SMW+ on fight day. You cannot judge a shot fighter on 1 fight they have no interest in. Brooks mind was on the Khan fight and it showed he just didnt look good, rushed shots no footwork etc to tell if someone is shot you need to see 2 fights and the same (or more) aspects of their boxing diminishing.
