I think with Groves it was more the fact he went through absolute hell to rehab the shoulder in time to make the fight date. His performance in the fight before against Eubank was one of the best of his career. So for Smith he had a real rough and rushed camp focusing more on ensuring the shoulder is OK and I believe he had a **** weight cut too.... but he dragged himself through it because it was incredible money and after the Gutknecht tragedy he was counting down the days to when he could get out of the sport whilst making as much money as possible.
Spot on. Somebody criticised groves on Twitter and he replied with you don’t know what it took to get me to that fight - obviously went through hell with the shoulder rehab and wasn’t as effective despite looking decent in certain rounds. Smith still has it all to prove.
