Every 6 months or so I try to tell this to ESB. I know it's the oldest cliche in the book, but people on ESB forget it all the damn time. Style's make fights So next time you project the Lewis-Tyson '96 matchup based on their fights against Frank Bruno, just recall Razor Ruddock You guys need examine the style matchups before each match. I don't claim to know it all but I see too many posts on ESB where people predict matches based upon resume or reputation rather than boxers and their physical attributes and styles. People may talk **** but this analysis is why I won $$$ on Mosley-Margarito, Cotto-Margarito, and VITLAI-PETRE
I do think Lewis wins but that's not really the point It's just that on ESB people totally ignore style matchups It may be pointless, but I tried to explain this before Margarito-Cotto. People kept quoting Cotto's resume. I tried telling them resume doesn't mean ****, Margarito stylewise is Cotto's nightmare. Not many listened There's a reason Ali struggled like hell with Norton and had an easy time with fighters who kicked Norton's ass. Styles, styles, styles
Knocking this up because of the recent Wright-Williams fight Once again, ESB patrons faithfully predicted a fight based upon resume and not styles and physical attributes The Wright-Williams fight was one of the easiest "big" fights to predict in years yet so many well-respected ESB'ers were dreadfully wrong Just another reminder that resumes don't win fights, individuals and styles do
Well, at least some, ESBers listen to you. The hype machines pushing the resumes and ignoring everything else in their predictions seem to be, IMHO, a (very) vocal minority.
