we all know hes honored as having the best chin in boxing he fought everyone from welters to lightheavies(and some of these light heavies had been taking out heavies)my question is in todays world from welter to lightheavy who could put him on the deck how and why?
I think McClellan could have dropped him, Hearns maybe too, Julian Jackson perhaps. If they land their money punches that is. Foster, Charles, Moore, Spinks, Jones Jr would imo KO him at 175 Are we just talking today's fighters though? I think 1 reason Lamottas chin is seen as being so good is because he pressured fighters keeping them off balance, hurt them to the body, put them on the back foot, it took the sting off their punches, plus he rolled with the punches and didn't get hit too clean too often
do you think the guys you mentioned could hit as hard if not harder than satterfield who jake knocked out??
About as hard and they were generally better, who knows if Satterfield managed to land clean punches without seeing the fight. Satterfield was probably a tad green too
So would you say Hagler has a the better chin between him and La Motta then? Hagler took a few huge right hands from Hearns in their fight after all.
I wonder if Jake could have eaten that right hand Monzon landed in that first Benvenuti fight? That was a tremendous shot and would be tough to take in the 12th round.
Fritzie Zivic woudda been the perfect guy to ask who would come out on top in a Lamotta vs Burley matchup.
:yikes @ Roy Jones especially. At any rate, to answer the thread. Joe Louis and Rocky Marciano might kill him on his feet.
That monstrous uppercut from hell by Hearns in the 1st round against Hagler, might've dropped LaMotta, if he didn't see it coming.
I don't think any of them hit as hard as Satterfield. He's beyond just hitting good for his size, he was a legit one punch threat to men with 25+ lb advantage, he also broke Tommy Gomez's ribs and pretty much blinded Valdez in his eye.
I take it you didn't follow any boxing in the 90s if you didn't know Jones is a monster puncher, contenders who were going 12 with Toney/Benn/Eubank were being stopped quickly by Jones sometimes in 1-2rounds
Jones just had insane speed, you can't prepare for punches when you can't see them coming. I'd give him a shot at knocking most people out around that weight.
