Hattons camp have said that the reason the fight with Mayweather was not made straight away was so he would get used to fighting in the states, after 3 fights he felt he was ready.

Surley then all 3 of those fights should have been at Weltereight???

But Ricky is genetically incapable of fighting at Welterweight, it's been well established.

    Little arms, see.

Although maybe more fights at Welter could have made his arms grow longer....

Especially as the transition from LW to Welter was so problematic for Hatton.

I think it was more a case of the time being right for the Mayweather fight. Hatton had become a household name and the interest for travelling support and PPV buys would never have been higher.

Coupled with the delusion that Hatton had the style to upset Mayweather must have made team Hatton feel it was now or never.

Is that legal? Obviously not long enough, he should have aimed for something akin to Mr Tickle. And had a third one added, Mayweather would have never seen the check hook from Ricky's middle hand coming....

He had them straightened before the Urango fight , all thr weightlifting over the years had caused them to bend a bit giving him a shorter reach .

Rickys biggest problem is that he telegraphs his punches and lunges in with wide shots. He will always, have problems with pure boxres like Collaza and Mayweather. So I dont think weight is the real problem, its his fighting style.

i dontuderstand how ricky is only able to fight comfortably at 1 weight! look how many boxers have been able to fight efficiantly in many different weight classes. why cant he do it. thats why i think he may be a bit overated.

I can understand your point but not many boxers are as short and sqaut as him at light welter nevermind welter so that is one of the main reasons he is more of a one weight fighter.

To me Ricky Hatton has the physical dimensions of a featherweight, let alone a light welterweight or welterweight, just look at the height and reach of Manny Pacquaio, Marco Antonio Barrera and even Rafael Marquez.
