off topic but isn't that what De La Hoya did? started at 135, went to 130 for a title and defended it a couple of times then back to 135 for that title.
Tell that to Prescott lol. That guys got like a 85% KO ratio and there are without a doubt bangers in every weight-class. As for the question. There is no way in hell Khan will ever go back down there, the way his body has been rebuilt has been done for the 140 division. Due to his height and build, Amir Khan can only go upwards, I believe. And I don't think his jaw is as bad as everybody makes out and it hasn't been tested at 140, but I don't think I am in hurry to see Maidana land flush on his chin yet, and neither is Khan!
I disagree, I think all the fighters mentioned above are pretty big punchers. Katsidis is a big puncher, however i think Khan could handily outbox him, maybe stopping him late or stopping him on cuts. Soto i'm not so sure about, he has just moved up from super-feather but did have Diaz in trouble a few times suggesting he has carried his power. However again, I suspect Khan would win a UD after a few scary moments, Soto turns off too often for me. As for Marquez, he has one of the best lead uppercuts in the world, a stiff right cross and cracking counter skills. I think at 135, if he isn't shot, he'd take Khan's head clean off in a couple of rounds.
No disrespect, but Khan is no Oscar. Again, I want to keep watching him and see if he really has the goods. He could turn out to be a Lennex Lewis. Meaning, his trainer can make him like Manny did for Lewis. Everyone keeps talking about Khan's chin, but that could have had happened to anyone. That was a hell of a punch. I love speed and his style so I hope he fairs well with the other 140 fighters. Now, if he gets plastered again, then I believe posters will jump all over him, but not before Rico does.
Khan is too big and muscular to move back down to 135. It's just as well... once Valero is released from the nut house it's possible their paths could cross and it'll be R.I.P. Khan.
Not worth going down, having a couple of fights, and coming back up, just to be able to say "I'm a 2-weight champion", when he's already settling well into 140. He would be better of working hard at 140 and looking to dominate the division (which he could do with the right amount of work with Roach).
It's weird: when Khan first moved up, he said that he had no trouble making 135 and might go back down after winning the title. Now, he's on radio shows (like theboxingtruth) saying that he had to starve himself for days and felt his knees buckle as he was walking to the ring because he felt weak. He was a gigantic lightweight, so I'm guessing 135 was too hard to make effectively.
