Should Andre Ward fight the winner of Usyk-Gassiev?

If Kovalev is on the bum circuit what do you call Rodriguez, Smith, Barrera and Brand?

 

Usyk and Gassiev have both said they are moving to HW after their May bout. Besides no matter how how many crooked refs, judges or drug testing manipulation would help against either of those two.

I'm not saying that Barrera is but he was put on his arse by a supposed bum who Kovalev just demolished in a quater of the time.

 

If Ward is to come back at a higher weight then the logical fight would be the winner of the cruiserweight tournament.

Imo Usyk and Gassiev both stop Ward and don't have much trouble doing it.

 

They both would have their way with Ward.

They'd enjoy avenging kovalev's false defeats.

Ward himself recently mentioned that he is after something big. With a "walk around" weight of 199, which he claims is all muscle, it may not be unthinkable...

 

I think he's too small and lacking in power for CW. If he did want to give it a try I would suggest he start with a fight or two against contender level opposition before challenging a champion, same as he did at LHW.

 

I would love to see Andre Ward in with one of these. I think he got very lucky against Kovalev but the Russian did not come well trained or well prepared. Drinking in camp, not doing the running or much other fitness work and certainly not listening to his trainers. I dont think either Gassiev or Usyk will come in under trained and underprepared. Call me a Ward hater if you have to, its true but that is how i feel, Ward beat Kovalev fairish and squareish but Kovalev let himself down as much as Ward proved to be the the better of the 2.

 

Why would Kovalev not properly prepare? They were big fights and you would think he would be especially motivated for the rematch.

 

Because he was an idiot and because he had got away with it with previous opposition who wasnt as good as Ward he was arrogant enough to believe he still could get by with minimal work in the training camp.
