Should Andy Ruiz try to get in better shape, or just keep doing what he's doing?

No need to fix things that aren’t broken.

Did he have a full camp as the replacement fighter?

Regardless, he needs to optimise his conditioning while maintaining all his attributes: speed, power, strength, chin.

I can't see how if he trained a bit harder so he could go for 12 rounds he wouldn't be slimmer and more effective.

I like him, his attitude and he's good for boxing. Hope he's not just a flash in the pan.

Yes, he should lose some weight.

If he's at 258, it's more ideal than 268. If he can get down to 250, that's even better.

He'll be even faster than before and AJ will have a harder time anticipating his offense.

253-268. Ruiz's level of fitness is what matters, and it isn't directly reflected by his weight.

To drop the weight he will have to drop calorie intake. How will that impact his energy and ability to train? I say if it isn’t broke don’t fix it.

To those saying he will die at 50, have you seen his bloodwork? None of us know what’s really under the hood. He actually might be just fine. He certainly can perform just fine for 12 tough rounds.

Usually when fighters start banging on about that they get beat! Joshua had the best of all of that and where did it get him in the Ruiz fight?

I haven't seen many old fat Mex & I live in a bear 40% Mex area currently. The few obese latino/latina I see are in motorized wheel chairs.

Maybe you're right tho. I hope Ruiz lives beyond 100.

Muscle is much more effective with a big layer of blubber on it. You can lift as many weights as you like but if you ain't got a big layer, or ideally layers, of blub covering your muscles it's akin to filling your petrol tank up with milk.

Ruiz vs AJ is resounding proof of that.

As is Fury vs Wlad and Bum Squad.

And Kownacki vs Washington, Martin, Szpilka etc.

And it'll be proven even more resoundingly when Gorman and Ali Eren Demirezen spank Dubois and Ajagba respectively.

Ruiz should stick to the training regimen of Burritos and Snickers Bars for the rematch...

but he may need to load up on more Snickers Bars if the rematch is in the UK since the Frankenroids Joshua won't be asking his corner "Why am I feeling like this?"... in the UK he'll be nice and Juiced up and not feeling weak like before!! But he also asked his corner "What did he hit me with?", so maybe the Juice won't help him in the rematch...
