Anthony Joshua has ranked 10th in the current TBRB P4P boxing rankings. Do you agree? 1 Terence Crawford USA 32-0-0 (23) Welterweight 2 Vasyl Lomachenko UKR 10-1-0 (8) Jr. Lightweight 3 Srisaket Sor Rungvisai * THA 44-4-1 (40) Jr. Bantamweight 4 Gennady Golovkin KAZ 36-0-1 (33) Middleweight 5 Saul Alvarez MEX 49-1-2 (34) Middleweight 6 Mikey Garcia * USA 38-0-0 (30) Lightweight/ Jr. Welterweight 7 Naoya Inoue JPN 15-0-0 (13) Bantamweight 8 Leo Santa Cruz USA 34-1-1- (19) Featherweight 9 Oleksandr Usyk UKR 14-0-0 (11) Cruiserweight 10 Anthony Joshua ENG 21-0-0 (20) Heavyweight
Not for me. I don't think any current heavyweight deserves to find themselves in the top 10. Not do any cheating Mexican beef addicts.
3 world title belts, a win over parker, a win over a hall of famer in klitschko, a dominant boxing performance against Takam. A win over breazeale who is a top 20 heavyweight minimum, if not top 10. A win over dillian whyte who is no doubt top 10, and people are saying he could beat Wilder, which I agree with. That is enough for him. He has to be in the P4P top 10, no doubt. And all that in 21 fights. The hate on Joshua is outrageous.
Put it this way, If it was Deontay Wilder who had unified 4 out of 5 belts, beaten a ATG, beaten 3 ex World Champions, 35% of his pro fights have been against Top 10 ranked opponents. Undefeated. Then his fans would be shouting for the Number 1 spot. I think its very reasonable to have Joshua in spot 8/9/10 for sure. If you add Povetkin & Wilder on his resume at the end of 2018, and then a potential fight against the Unified Champion at Cruiserweight, Usyk/Gassiev in 2019 at some point, then id make a strong case for him to easily be in the Top 5. Adding an alternative heavyweight in there then the closest after Joshua would be Wilder. If Wilder could beat Whyte & Joshua in 2018 and then topple Usyk or Gasisev in 2019, he could just as easily be a Top 10 P4P. I think 2018/2019 will certainly see a current Heavyweight solidify themselves in the Top 10 P4P listings if the right fights get made.
This isn't a question of achievements, of course AJ has achieved a lot for his age no doubt. That doesn't mean he's the most skilled.
I tend not to rate heavyweights P4P unless they've been dominant for a long stretch of years, or if they are absolutely phenomenal. From my vantage point, Joshua doesn't fit either bill, but neither do most heavyweights in the last 30 years.
C`mon Wilder`s best win was against an aging Cuban who was already on the slide and who had never held a world title. This surely qualifies him as #1 P4P.
Definitely . P4P rankigs factor those consistently beating top 10 ranked contenders and Joshua is going through champ and top 10 ranker one after the other. I don't see anybody else taking on so many top 10 guys. There needs to be a rearrangement to the top 5 list later this year. Joshua if he beats Povetkin and Usyk if he beats Gassiev in - Crawford and Canelo out.
